I'm as big of an eBay supporter as anyone can be (okay, maybe not) but they sure seem to want to shoot themselves in the foot.
I think I might start looking into Bonanza again and eventually building my own website.

I knew that one was in the update but didn't pay a lot of attention to it at that time. I figured it was a way to weed out bad sellers. However, given the new policy of deciding all SNADS in the buyer's favour and their yabbering about 'free' returns, I can see this impacting any seller negatively.
Geez - even Marie is mad.

The amount of marketing needed to get something like that going is really big, unless one already has a marketing structure.

Everyone should have gotten a message about it. This is called Seller Metrics. It's titled "where you stand with service metrics" dated May 22.

It's not 40%.
It's 4%.

Let me quote Chap because she stated it more clearly.
It's 4% rise but nets a 40% increase (4% out of 10%), effectively increasing FVF by half again. It's better to really look at it as an effective increase because it's a better measure of impact. It may get more people off their behinds to protest, too.

It's an additional 4% increase. We'll just use a 10% FVF for ease.
Sell $10 item. FVF is $1 Tack on additional 4% that now brings FVF to $1.40.
Tacking on 4% is a 40% increase in FVF.
I absolutely get why they're doing this. I do. Hopefully to weed out the shitty sellers that just send out junk and refund to appease their buyer. Easily relatable: GWO sellers who don't wash clothes and list fast and miss stains and sell everything for $8. Buyer opens SNAD? They just refund them and tell them to keep. I hear it in groups and from you tubers. This is going to put a cramp in their listing style.
I feel I'm a really good seller, but I can also see how it's going to be easy to have 1 bad month and ruin it for the entire year. I had 2 false INADs this month already.

If we sellers want to affect change, we need to act. Force in numbers. I see where Bob Kub.....(don't remember how to spell his name) is doing a town hall and will be answering questions. Follow the links and submit or add to or bump up questions that he will have to answer. Make that thread HOT. Share it with all of your other seller friends.

I posted with my question and prefaced it with the fact that I DO understand the reasoning behind the policy itself, but did they not do ANY due diligence insofar as its enaction because there are some real problems here. I agreed with Val with their loosey-goosey time frames, too, but she put it better than I would and it's better to keep it simple. Bob Kupbens (I think) doesn't strike me as being the sharpest tool in the box, but I don't have a great opinion of most of eBay admin at this point. They don't even have a CTO now - cripes on a bike - is anybody at the wheel over there.

Sad that this is affecting regular, honest sellers.
In the meantime, I ordered something off Ebay for the first time in a LONG while, made sure to choose US sellers only and got an email the next day that says the US warehouse is sold out and it HAS to ship from China and it will take 7 - 10 days to ship. It is, I am sure, just another new way for Chinese sellers to get around the rules and get my $125.

I told them to send me a tracking number so I can watch it. If it isnt here by the delivery date, which is next week, I will file.
I actually have bought from China before and dont mind doing it sometimes, but I specifically wanted something from the US. It is a bathroom fixture that matches what I bought for the shower.

I used to do a lot of trade with China, specifically traditional Chinese clothing and even some antiques. I also did business with someone in Hong Kong and another individual in Beijing for contemporary clothing you couldn't get here - I'm not sure how any of them are faring now with the factory dumping that's going on at the site, although two of the people I did business with for quite a while have quit.

Did it have guaranteed delivery on it? Maybe you can get a credit if it did.

They have communicated well with me and sent tracking numbers. So I will give it until the end of next week.

It may be a legit out of stock item and they're drop-shipping it - a case of bad luck. But there you go, some of these China sellers weave a real web of deceit with false promises, no items, bad items and fake 'warehouses', so that it's easy to suspect the legit sellers.
