Thanks for posting this Pam- first I've heard about it but I just barely got up and am still on my 1st cuppa coffee. I've been expecting a fee increase for quite awhile so I'm not spooked about that at all. It still sucks that they take a bite out of shipping costs; I charge exact shipping and have always wondered if that was adequate with the their fee. Just watched their video... what a waste of time but at least it was short and pretty. If they tell us there's big changes coming, they f'n need to tell us what they're gonna look like, especially since they're starting next month. ETA-- oops; didn't scroll down far enough to see the rest of the deets. I'm worthless before my 3rd cup of coffee. Stumbling into the kitchen for my 2nd

Their listing charges alone made it impossible for me to make it over there. I don't care about FVFs, as they are only charged when something sells. But when you've got 1000 postcards sitting and only selling a few a month, it's not worth it.
Honestly, instead of a listing fee, I'd rather be charged a back end fee if something has been listed for a certain amount of time without selling. That way I have the option of taking it down before it's charged.

I was just reading on their forums- sellers are up in arms about their selling fees now including the shipping cost. Guess I've been selling on eBay too long cause I'm numb to changes like this. Etsy Pinks just keep repeating that it's industry standard... meaning that because eBay does it they should too. Reminds me of something my mama used to say about 'just because XX does something doesn't mean that YOU should" lol.
I hear ya Jeremy- I have ties and scarves that just sit thru relist after relist because they have to wait for just the right person to see them. Those listing fees add up; I'm going to start lotting similar things together to see if I can move 'em faster.

RetroMonde I guess I am immune to the shipping charge fee too, because it really didn't register at first. On Priority Mail I charge calculated cost. On First Class, I rounded it to the nearest dollar. I'll probably just leave things the way they are for a while, although I'm kicking around the idea of offering free shipping and incorporate the costs into the price of the item and make everything no returns.

Their packages are severely underwhelming...

Josh wants to make money on seller services. They've already started putting messages on shipping costs. Admonishing me that "average shipping cost for clothing is $5". BFD just because Etsy is choked with millions of T shirts with words on them drop shipped in bulk, doesn't mean that I need to charge that for the 6 lb 1930s coat I'm shipping.
He's going for the cheap fast replicates, kind of like Wish only not as junky. He doesn't grok vintage at all, I don't think
