Hi All,
I don't really know where to start this thread, but I think I started it in the right place, anyway.
I have my first St John pieces for consignment. If you guys have a link to send me to for research, that would be great. Obviously I researched on ebay and . I have a similiar skirt to this one
(http://www.ebay.com/itm/EUC-Designer-St-John-Evening-Marie-Gray-Gold-Santana-Knit-Pencil-Skirt-4-/151546696535?pt=US_CSA_WC_Skirts&hash=item2348e31357)
in pink. It only says St John Evening, not Marie Gray and not Santana Knit. Does this make it less valuable?
Basically, I need overall help, is there a St John Label link someone could provide or personal selling knowledge with St John?
Thanks for any help! I appreciate it!

I've sold 10 or more St. John pieces over the years and have read many posts about St. John, as well, so I'll try my best. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on any of this. St. John by Marie Gray/St. John Evening/St. John Collection may have all been different price points at retail, but the difference in labeling don't seem to matter a hill of beans when it comes to resale. There are other labels, too. St. John Basics (which I've actually done decently with), St. John Sport as well as a bright yellow label St. John. In my experience, the prices for St. John Sport and the bright yellow label aren't anything spectacular. They're more in line with the upper end of bread and butter brands. The fact that the skirt you linked to has Marie Gray on the label and yours doesn't, shouldn't make a difference in the selling price. Most likely they're just from different years or seasons. Santana is never noted anywhere on a label. It's the patented name for a specific wool/rayon blend of yarn. So, while it's really Santana yarn that is used in a stockinette stitch common and popular in many of their items, most sellers seem to use the phrase Santana knit to describe the flat stockinette stitched items. Perhaps someone else will come along who knows if the one you linked to is actually Santana yarn. Because the photo showing the inside of the skirt shows some variation in the yarn (some parts look more shimmery than others), I don't have the expertise to tell you for sure that it's Santana yarn. The shiny, rectangular pieces that are heat set on the outside of the skirt in your link are referred to in the St. John world as paillettes. The link in your post didn't show as live, so I'm going to repost it here and see if it works. www.ebay.com/itm/EUC-Designer-St-John-Evening-Marie-Gray-Gold-Santana-Knit-Pencil-Skirt-4-/151546696535

Thank you!! There is a ton of info out there about the labels, however I specifically wanted to know if labels really matters from experience selling it. I'm gonna put Santana knit in the title and I will post a link when I finish the listing. I am going price it high and go down from there. Thanks for the help.
I see a seller with a St John SoCa with a bid of only .99 no reserve, that's terrible, I guess that label might be the worst of them.

Very nice pictures! St.John can take some time to sell. It really depends on the piece and style. Good luck with it.

Okay, so yours isn't like the one you first linked to. It doesn't have paillettes, does it?
You asked for critique, so here goes. I think your photos are overexposed and I can't get a handle at all on what the true color is. You say it's metallic, but I'm not getting that from the photos. Looks like a salmon color with white flecks. I also can't discern the knit. Is it stockinette? Did you take the photos outside? Use a flash?

I'd take the 36" out of the title. As soon as I saw it I thought someone had blocked it sizes larger then it was tagged and it was stretched out. IF I were looking for a size 6, I probably would not have even looked at the auction.

okay I took the 36 out. hum, as far as the pics, the color is bubblegum pink with silver metallic. Doesn't have the paillettes, that was all wrong to begin with, my apologies. It is taken outside but with no flash, but put through the photoshop contrast/bright adjustment. It is a stockinette knit with silver thread through it. I'll try some no photos tomorrow. Thanks!

If you don't have a good indoor setup for taking pics, is there a shaded area that you can use outside?

There is also St. John Couture, which I believe is the highest end.

Is the skirt made of elastic? I would title it "St John Santana Knit Evening Straight Skirt sz 6 Shimmer Pink Silver Metallic"
In the body I would explain the color "bubblegum santana knit with metallic silver thread". Shimmer is the KW the buyers need to find it.

FWIW, Santana is the yarn not a knit. It is a patented wool blend, though I do not have the ratios.
since it IS a knit skirt, your title is fine. I also agree with shimmer as a KW.
