Has anyone done this? I'm considering it.

Has anyone done this? I'm considering it. No, but I did use PP "friends & family" once to send some $ to avoid a potential defect. Somebody on the other board ripped me a new one for doing it, after the fact. But hey, you do what ya gotta do these days to .

Yeah, the buyer seems nice. I'm sure she wouldn't mind. I'd get it swiftly mailed out tomorrow.

Yep, I just put the cash in with the item and let the buyer know that it was in there so be on the lookout.

I do that rather often too critter, this one the buyer got the item and found a flaw I missed. I've never sent cash with this scenario. I think I'm gonna do it.

Yep, I just put the cash in with the item and let the buyer know that it was in there so be on the lookout. I've done this a few times when the buyer was WAY overcharged on shipping and I don't know why. I attached the cash refund to the packing slip and then sent an E-mail letting them know.

If you've already sent the package why not just use the send money feature with paypal and choose that you will pay the fees. I wouldn't send it in the mail. You won't get a defect for sending it directly just don't go through the transaction page.

I don't (or didn't) think partials caused defects, only a full refund.

No, b/c you won't get a defect, I do partials all the time for multiple shipping refunds. Never got a defect once.
I have sent a partial in cash on occasion, if it's $1 or something, but I prefer to get a refund on my fees.

I don't (or didn't) think partials caused defects, only a full refund. I'd read where someone had refunded (through PP) the full amount LESS one penny and it didn't cause a defect or wave any red flags. I think it may be when you refund through eBay that things change... FWIW, I've done several partials through PP for shipping overcharges and nothing has bitten me in the butt.

You CAN go through the tx page, that's where I do them all from. Plus you're get your pro-rated fee refund. Never had a defect, I do it all the time.

For some reason I thought I'd get a defect. I won't worry so much next time. Thanks

I've done the minus a penny refund and didn't get a defect. Only had to do it once tho.

I don't (or didn't) think partials caused defects, only a full refund. I'm pretty sure they don't. I've refunded shipping overages since the defect mess started with no problem.

I always refund my shipping discount to the buyers for calculated priority-never a defect.
And I reserve the right to send $ to "family or friends" from PP when eBay relists a sold item and it sells again.
I then refund the amount of the purchase since it is eBays fault!!! Never a defect that way, of course.

I use to send cash until a month ago. I sold a Patagonia pullover on my other ID. I noticed a flaw and put $20 in the package when I mailed it. The customer insists it wasn't there. So....I sent her another $20 through Paypal. I KNOW I put the money in there as I had two twenty dollar bills on me and I was happy I didn't have to go hit an ATM.

I think the only time you get a defect is if the partial is a settlement on a SNAD claim and you have it whether you refund all of some. Bet that is what they are seeing though.

Oh that sucks Dante, I worry about that sometimes. I wanted to call her out on it, but there was no way to prove anything. She has to live with it, not me.
