2000-2018 Hootie. The Hootster. Hootspoots. Budski. No matter what you called him, he was the Best. Cat. Ever. I had to put him to sleep this afternoon. The diabetes and the leukemia (cancer) was just too much for him.

Fast trip to the Bridge, Hoots. Claus and Sabrina are waiting for you. They have a flock of kittens rounded up to greet you.
You will be in good paws.
What a great pic of Hootie. Those orange tabbys are the best.

Oh, Val. I'm so sorry. I remember you saying that he picked you at the shelter and followed you around. He obviously knew a good Hooman when he saw one.
Farewell, Hootie.

Oh no! I'm so sorry Val I'm glad that Trixie is there to provide comfort. Decided that I like the idea of having a Sphynx (haven't thoroughly researched the breed but I like the non shedding factor and I read that they like social interactions with humans). It is not to be though, Cliff is 100% not on board with any animals right now. Maybe a dog in the future but never a Sphynx. I guess he had a cat named Lincoln a while back but every woman he dated was allergic so he went back to the Rescue. I'm not allergic and I'm not going anywhere so obviously this isn't an issue now. Grrr.... he doesn't like the way they look... lol

So so sorry Val, it's the hardest thing. My little old man kitty had diabetes but went into remission and we got 6 more years with him. Then he just laid down in his spot one night and didn't want to get back up. He was 21. PTS is the last thing we can do for them when it's done out of love.

I read somewhere once that people never really own a house, that they are just their stewards. I feel the same way about pets. You're given a finite time with them. It's how you spend that time that counts. You two were meant to be together. So sorry for your loss.

Oh, Val, I'm so very sorry.
I know how awful it feels to have to make this decision, no matter how obviously necessary it is.
You gave Hootie his very best possible life, and I hope that you can focus on the happy times, and that Trixie can be a comfort to you.

LOL! Thanks Fashion! As much as I hate to say this, I don't think Trixie is missing him much. She looks to the bedroom door and hallway when she gets up on the bed, to make sure he's not coming in, but that's about it. She can eat in peace now. He used to start with his bowl, move to her bowl so she'd go over to his bowl...he'd go back to her bowl, etc. She'd get fed up and just sit in the window until he was finished and walked off. I got to where I was feeding her in the window or on the little kitchen table so she didn't have to wait to eat. Hootie was a great cat but he wasn't a good big brother to Trixie.

No doubt. She got him back - Trixie doesn't take crap off anyone. She gets her revenge in stealth mode though.

Trixter was raised by the Missy family from small kitten times. They are specialists in "take no crap" and she graduated with honors.
