I can't figure out a reason why they would have in the first place.

What Jeremy said.
Who is Ming the Merciless? I would be scared to purchase from him. He's really negative.

I'm with Jeremy. I don't know why Target bothered with eBay in the first place. Avenue sells here, but it made sense at the time - they didn't take PayPal on their regular website so if you wanted to pay via PP you just bought it off the Avenue eBay listing. AFAIK, Target.com has always accepted PP (or at least as long as they'd been selling on eBay too).

Most of those posters I just ignore - they're typical comment section goobs. Ina will post there once in a while but she only addresses legit questions and comments (she probably wishes those people would go away). Marie is a good poster and I always read her comments. I'm assuming any brand would sell on eBay just to expand their web presence, but it may not be worth the hassle because then you have eBay's extra layer of administration to deal with - this really would be the case with any marketplace website.

I would imagine that ebay pitched them some kind of sweetheart deal that they thought was an opportunity not to pass up.
Then the reality set in and they can't jump ship fast enough.

I actually think that one poster was right - the return simply wasn't enough for the resources needed to support it. If I were a brand I would not want to sell on a 3rd party platform unless the return was really good, simply for those reasons.

It could also not be eBay's fault at all. Target has made some bonehead business decisions over the past 5-7 years and their market share was dropping at one point (I don't know how it is currently). I think a big mistake was adding the grocery section to all of their stores, followed by dropping some of the seasonal kitchy stuff that used to make it fun to shop there. I know I don't shop there anymore. The selection is blah and in the grocery area, brand selection is limited and they're often out of stock.

Target prices are way too high at the stores in my area. HEB and Walmart pretty well play in the same grocery price ballpark with HEB going for the edge with their in-store and digital coupons.
I used to shop Target's cat food and litter sales but now Chewy beats them and they deliver it to my door for free.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who remembers when Target used to be the cheap place to buy (like K-Mart). I can't even afford to shop in their clearance section these days.

I think my store has maybe one endcap with clearance stuff which is not even priced for clearance.
It is just a joke.

Yes, if Target is pulling back due to lack of resources they're going to have to diverst something - oftentimes it can be a question of not if it works, but if it works well enough. Our Target doesn't sell groceries, but if it did, it would be a really bad idea - too much competition. The Fred Meyer does and it's always packed, but FM has sold groceries since I can remember (at least here).

Even then, it was iffy because they'd often be out of stock on a lot of items (even basics like milk and bread). I got so annoyed at having to hit 2 grocery stores because the ST was out that I stopped shopping for groceries at the superstores. Then Target decided "hey let's put groceries in LOTS of our stores!". They even put a grocery section in smaller stores. This, of course, reduced the space available for other product lines. That's also about when Target stopped carrying the cute seasonal textiles and household stuff and went to the boring bland year-round neutral crap. IIRC, not too long after that sales started tanking. I don't know if Target ever got their sales back up or not.

I see lots of cute seasonal household stuff in my Target! They just launched a new housewares line earlier this month: Opalhouse.
My Target has a decent selection of groceries. I would never do all my grocery shopping there. It's great for convenience though. If I need some mid week fillers for the pantry I'll typically get them there instead of going to the grocery store.
I think it's great to have "brands" on eBay, but Target itself already carries too many brands to be expanding on eBay. I don't see how Target could have continued on with eBay. I'm sure it wasn't a very good payoff/expansion for them. Hurts for eBay though. Hopefully they can find a replacement.

The two Targets that I go to here sell some groceries. They actually have a decent deal on meat sometimes. I was told that after 6PM, they mark down their meat. I got like a 2 lb thing of hamburger for $2.99 once and a 3 pack of steaks (normally 3 for $10) was $5.00. Good steaks too (by my standards, which isn't much LOL).

As a buyer - if I want something Target, I'll either go in the store or go to online Target. It wouldn't occur to me to shop Ebay for Target - unless it's a sold out item that someone has for resale.

I buy him mostly Costco, but on occasion I will pick up something there.

DD does all her grocery shopping at Target. I rarely (if ever) buy their clothes, they just don't fit me right. I DO buy their Archer Farms K-cups though. I like those the best.

Did Target ship international or have free shipping on eBay?

We don’t have a Target nearby, but their multipurpose contact lens solution gets me buying regularly from them. I was adding something I’d normally buy like Tide and cat food to get free shipping, but I just got a red card. It says free standard shipping with it so I can see myself buying more.

Our Target is remodeling again. Just put on an addition. Not sure if they are putting in a drive thru for the CVS part or what.
