"Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, CO has the largest reticulated giraffe herd of any North American zoo. We currently have 17 in our herd, and we have two calves on the way! 20-year-old Muziki and 10-year-old Laikipia are due in late April or early May 2018. Whichever calf is born first will be the 200th giraffe calf in Cheyenne Mountain Zoo's history!" www.youtube.com/watch?v=wigGGpS6Aug&feature=youtu.be

Have you been there to feed the giraffes? It was so much fun to do!

We did a sleep over 2 years ago with our Girl Scouts. It was fun to be there after they closed so we got to really see the animals. It is a hike though!

I've never watched a giraffe give birth ... until now.
"Wow" is all I can say. (also note that you can't spell "Wow" without "Ow")

Giraffe births are amazing. Well, all births are amazing....
They had April the Giraffe on The Today Show this morning because her baby will be 1 later this month. AAANNNDDD......they hinted that she may be pregnant again.
I hope the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo gets some hype like April did (and will get again if she is indeed pregnant)

I heard rumors that April's baby giraffe didn't make it. It must have stemmed from rumors about bonding/nursing getting off to a rocky start. I was SO GLAD to see that wasn't true and he's celebrating his 1st birthday

Awwww, baby giraffe was born earlier this month. She had a rough beginning. Then things looked good, then things took a bad turn. They hurried up and named her PENNY. When I heard that I though it was because they wanted to give her a name before she passed. Baby girl is separated from mom now and is improving. Check out this FB video update. She's too cute! www.facebook.com/CMZoo/videos/10156662662136019/
