I will not be able to attend this one tomorrow as DH has a Dr's appt. at 11 in another town. Hopefully those of you listening will post some of the plus/minus info that you garner from the event. Thanks so much.

I totally missed it. From what I gather, there wasn't any meat and potatoes (funds availability, etc.) so I really am not mad at myself for missing it.
As time gets closer, I'm sure info will be out there on how sellers need to adjust. I'll go on along and do it then.

I got the boot camp stuff. I started watching the video Griff and Audrey did. But then it fell to the wayside. It was about knowing your numbers. And maybe something else.

So no one actually heard the webinar? I was reading the ECB synopsis and was curious whether this was really said, and with a straight face...
Executive Bob Kupbens talked about predictable access to funds - "you know when your funds are going to be there, you know then what decisions you can make in your business to allow you to be successful. This is a journey that we're on together. We're working towards creating a single source of truth for you to manage your business, and include all the payments information, like making sure that as we talk to you about what's important, that we put that front and center, and on top of it is this greater opportunity for reach."
...because I can't wrap my head around eBay being a single source of truth for anything. What pretentious clap-trap!

And that is all they spout no matter who is doing the talking.

I listened to it, but whether they weren't saying anything worth listening to or my mind was wandering, I didn't get much out of it.

What pretentious clap-trap! The whole thing was hot air - a string of buzz words that really say nothing. "Single source of truth" - well, I guess in a world where we have 'evangelists' instead of sales staff, and people call themselves 'visionaries' (which is a pretty good indicator that they're not) this kind of horse pucky will play. ETA: This whole rollout is clumsy - instead of waiting until they had some real meat to present people, they just made the announcement, Wenig went all Il Duce on us "There will be no choice! You will obey!" then they fell down when it came to answering some simple, direct questions and came up with this pile of poo. People just want to have some basic facts. Annoying, and I don't even have any problems with this payment scheme.

The fact that eBay is doing a survey on payment times tells me either they have one in mind and want to see how hard it will be to make it fly, or they want to see the longest most sellers will wait without screaming for payment.

IDK about anybody else but waiting a week on Etsy is tolerable ONLY BECAUSE they're charging me 3% FVF. I figure they're getting interest for a week as payback for the lesser fees. And we can speed up transfers if we need the money sooner than scheduled. I also like that no with eBay sales my actual money from Paypal is available immediately to use for food, bills or more inventory. I'm afraid I don't have very positive expectations for this new version of payments with eBay at the wheel. IMHO they're crazy for not giving sellers more meat instead of just hot air at the webinar; it's bound to lead to crazy speculation and rumors.

I like the Etsy system - like getting a weekly paycheck. eBay would be the same - weekly paycheck. Etsy payments go right into my bank account. If I have returns, it comes out of my Etsy account, similar to eBay. With Adyen back-end doing the actual money.
If eBay does NOT allow earlier transfers, or tries to make people wait 2 weeks, or starts relegating people for earlier transfers (eBay has a lot more stick than carrot, I find), that will probably cause a lot of sellers to just pack up and go to alternative sites. eBay may not care one way or another if that happens, but the publicity would be really BAD.
They need for once to not be cavalier about this and not treat us, their sellers, like we're large, dull children.

People who are not familiar with this system have every right to be upset about this, absolutely. Even with Etsy rolling out 'direct checkout' (Etsy payments) a couple of years before shifting the entire site to that (so people were accustomed, it was a normal way to to business), there were still 60,000 some odd sellers who left. eBay really needed to do this on their 'journey' (what the hell is that - it's a conversion, stop trying to make it sound like some kind of mystical voyage) now, give sellers perks for using it, and have it run for a couple of years before forcing everyone onto it. Yes, the conversion will be gradual, but it will also be forced and to a lot of people this is diddling with their livelihood. That at least would give a live transition. Well, I guess we'll all see.
