Not sure if this was posted elsewhere, but Ina has 2 articles about the spring seller updates on today's EcommerceBytes. One is about fee changes, the other about product identifiers. Have to read them both again to absorb all the details. Here is a link:

Product Identifiers will be required for new shoes. Though I have no idea where we would get them without a shoe box. For the most part I dont see this will affect us with used CSA

The biggest change seems to be, fo store sellers, the free listings for your store subscription is no longer FP OR Auction. You get FP only. If you list in collectables you get an additional 100 free auction listings.
Also, 1 and 3 day listings will now have a $1 surcharge. 5, 7, & 10 day listings will have no surcharge.

How can it be an "additional" 100 free auctions for collectibles if you're a store owner that will have NO free auctions for our store allotment? It's just semantics but c'mon... get it right Einstein (meaning the overpaid eBay gang). It will be interesting to see what other changes get announced today, if any.

Well before store owners got 500 free listings a month, FP or Auction. Now, they get 500 free FP listings. They can also list 100 auction listings in the collectables category for free. If they list auctions in any other category they will be charged .15 per listing.
Basically what is happening is that they are taking away free auction listings for store owners. Doesnt sound like they are tryng to build the auction business to me.

Yep, they are saying they want us to list more auctions but now they will charge for them. Exactly. How can they honestly say that they are trying to build back the auctions and then take them away from store owners. I can usually roll with most of the punches that eBay throws out, but this will do me in. I'm 99.5% auctions on my items. Between listing and relisted, I put up about 500 to 800 a month. And now (excluding promos), I'm going to have to pay out of pocket for all but 100 of them. I will be downgrading my store, as 500 fixed price means absolutely nothing to me. I won't even have 150 fixed price to list, but I'll keep the store for the categories and discounted FVF (I pay 6%). So frustrated right now. I am going to have to do more research to see if fixed price will benefit me at all, which I doubt it will. I seriously want to spit now. This is a major blow to my former co-worker, too, even more so. He lists about 3000 auctions a month, has a 90% plus sell-thru and starts everything at 95cents. He said he lists less than 50 fixed price per month. I was so hoping that I could spend my next 12 days off just relaxing, now I have to formulate a brand new business plan...

Jeremy, I caught part of the Ebay radio broadcast this afternoon, and that issue was brought up. One of the radio people (maybe/maybe not Griff?) said to just add the cost of the auction listing fee into the price of the item. And I thought, "Really? That's the best you can do?"

One of the radio people (maybe/maybe not Griff?) said to just add the cost of the auction listing fee into the price of the item. And I thought, "Really? That's the best you can do?" Yes. It's a ridiculous suggestion, to be honest. You can't just add it to the starting price, you have to take into account your sell through rate too. So, since my current sell through rate is 50%, I'd have to add twice the cost to my starting price in order to make up for the items that don't sell. And guess what will happen? My sell through is going to drop. So the next time I list, I'm going to have to add the cost x the new sell through to my cost, which is going to drive down my sell through rate, etc. I'm really going to have to think if selling stamps is worth it on the new eBay. This is the first time I've ever felt that they didn't want my business.

Did you ever read that guy's responses on the weekly ebay employee forum chat? He's an embarrassment to the company, and that's saying something. He must have a contract with a huge buyout clause, or else he's got dirt on Omidyar!
