Good morning virtual sellers! Or should I say top o' the morn to ye? Has anyone ever wondered where the phrase, "the luck of the Irish" came from? According to www.mentalfloss.com, the phrase luck of the Irish is commonly thought to mean “extreme good fortune.” However, according to Edward T. O’Donnell, an Associate Professor of History at Holy Cross College and author of 1001 Things Everyone Should Know About Irish American History, the term has not an Irish origin but “a happier, if not altogether positive,” American one. "During the gold and silver rush years in the second half of the 19th century, a number of the most famous and successful miners were of Irish and Irish American birth. . . .Over time this association of the Irish with mining fortunes led to the expression 'luck of the Irish.' Of course, it carried with it a certain tone of derision, as if to say, only by sheer luck, as opposed to brains, could these fools succeed." Which brings us to eBay. While we suspect the part about "only by sheer luck could these fools succeed" applies to eBay management, what about us? We're almost through March. Are you selling on sheer luck, or do you have a plan in place? Looking at your numbers so far this year, what short-term changes will you make to your business to help you increase your fortune and profit this year? While you ponder that, allow me to leave you with a quick Irish blessing for the day. Sell on, fellow sellers! May you see much green today in your PayPal accounts!

The sign that hung by our front door for years: THE IRISH WAY Don't be talkin 'bout yourself while you're here.. We'll Surely be doin' that when you're gone.
Just wanted to take a moment to check in really quick.
Got a chance to go to two TS last night :-). Did OK. Sat in the recliner last night and took measurements of everything so listing when I get home will be easier.
Have a great day everyone.

Thanks for the info on "luck of the Irish". I love learning about stuff like that. My maternal great grandparents came from Ireland, so I'm one-quarter Irish. I've moved beyond the green beer celebrations on this day, but certainly wouldn't turn down some corned beef and cabbage with a dirty martini on the side (that's greenish, right?).

Ah, the powers that be chose St Patricks Day to roll our the Spring sellers update, perhaps thinking we'd have drunk too much green beer to notice. I'm about to put corned beef into the crockpot, bake a loaf of Irish Soda bread, then spend the afternoon at Ikea with DD & the grands.
As far as plan or luck, I rely on both. Right now I'm throwing things at the wall to see what sticks; I was waiting for the Spring update to see what it brought before I make more decisions about eBay, Etsy and online biz in general.
Green wishes to all today- Happy St Patricks day to ya!
Sandra

My short term goal is to consistently list. I don't know why I can't keep with a listing routine. Over the years, I've learned what works for me as far as a schedule. I just need to actually do it.

To answer the question - I am selling by the seat of my pants and am in serious need of a plan. I think I'll ponder on that over a pint of Guinness.
My favorite Irish toast:
May those who love us, love us. And those who don't love us, may God turn their hearts. And if he doesn't turn their hearts, may he turn their ankles, So we'll know them by their limping.

This is me exactly! I do have a few changes I want to make due to the click/description factor. I was hoping they would say something about that in the Spring Update. I've been slacking off on listing, I think because of this in the back of my mind.

More incentive to plug away at the hoard of collectibles that I have here. If I ever get caught up with those, my listing will slow down.

My plan is to keep on keepin' on! If I list it, they will buy it mentality. My sales have been really down because I haven't been devoting a lot of time to listing due to real life. Now that real life is calming down, I plan to get back up to speed.

While I'm not Irish, I have a love of corned beef & cabbage. Just have to pass on it this year, after seeing the price of both. So, I'll just have to settle for some homemade Reubens... Happy St Patty's Day everyone!

I can't believe how many people were wearing green today! I wore green shamrock socks. Today - for the very first time in my life, I wore a multi-color green tunic with lavender pants for St Patty's Day. Maybe it was lucky? I had 2 sales today! Grandpa had me trained to wear orange on this speshul day...

I saw tons of green today too. We tried to go out for some Irish food but the places we went to had 2 hour waits. We ended up at BJ's Brewery. Bf was bummed, I told him to make some corned beef and cabbage in his crock pot.

I wasn't wearing green today, and the kids all had great fun pinching me.
Slowly getting stuff listed, trying to get back in the groove of it all. My sales are really bad right now, because I have been neglecting my store. Working 2 jobs keeps me flustered, and I don't get a routine. I see a big decision coming up for me-- to keep working 2 jobs, or to just work eBay.

I can relate. Tax season is almost over and I'll get my Mondays and Fridays back, which I use for ebay and remote clients. Can't wait!

We went away for the weekend to celebrate corporate taxes all done. Working on booking a week long trip starting April 15. Jim has been a tax accountant for over 50 years. Hoping that someday he will retire.
