If you want me to pull this I will. My vet had to put Simon, my beige kitty, down Friday (large mass, cancer, liver). There's a huge hole in my heart. But this is about what a great cat he was. Not me. I knew it was coming. Didn't want to believe it. He died in my arms with me nuzzling him and calling his name.
One of my previous labs found Simon as a 4/5 week feral kitten. He and his siblings were sleeping in car parts out back. I plucked them up and we ended up keeping Simon and Tory. Found homes for the rest.
Simon was the softest cat I ever had. He was also very gentle. He would put his paw on my cheek and go nose to nose with me, and always rub against my face. I called it dinking. He slept next to me in bed under the covers. He was always right up against me through the night...when he wasn't running down the hall with his brother sounding like elephants.
Simon loved to be outside when he was younger. I tried to keep him in, but he'd time me walking up the steps to open the door. Once I'd open the door he was running past me, full speed, outside. I would not sleep until he was in for the night. Hated the thought of him possibly being caught by a coyote. It was literally unbearable. Even the guys in the shop would stop what they were doing to help get Simon in for the night.
Simon would knock stuff off the table to watch it fall. He'd put himself in a position where he'd look so d@mn cute all the time. People in the house would tease me by saying, Simon's being cute. I was always pointing out his cuteness. He knew he could get away with anything with me. He was my favorite little guy, and he had such a big personality. I miss him so much.
