"Delivery speed on Wish is never the two-day free shipping most Amazon customers are used to, but the price is lower. The company’s key asset is the warehousing, and shipping pipeline they built in China, creating an efficient funnel for customers to buy goods directly from China." ETA- weird; for some reason it lost the sentence with the point I was making. That was how much I resent USPS and the federal government giving the Chinese and other countries such sweet shipping deals while constantly raising our postage to subsidize it. That is all.

I think the demand for fast fast fast free shipping is way overblown - the people who demand it just whine louder and it's easier to write about - the people who want cheaper prices simply spend their money where they want, and are in the majority.

This!! If I need something right this very second I am going to buy it from a brick and mortar store. I buy stuff pretty frequently on Amazon prime and I take the credit for choosing slower shipping about 50% of the time. Right now I have a $5 off luxury beauty coupon just for slow shipping a pair of leggings that I was in no hurry to get.

It doesn't surprise me that ebay and Amazon both failed in China market. Neither company took the time to understand the difference in cultures. Price is a huge consideration, but so is brand. Did they even do any research? I see that Amazon is spending a lot to enter India. Surveys are showing that people in the US market value the fast and free shipping. Free shipping first. But they still want the 2 - 4 day shipping. www.businessinsider.com/shoppers-want-free-shipping-this-holiday-season-2017-11

If given the choice, from what I've read, most will go for free over fast, yes. But with free shipping starting to be more restricted, they'll want fast.

Chap - look at the chart in my link. 45% of the people want shipping within 2 days, 35% want it within 3-4 days.
I wonder what the Asian market considers fast and slow shipping times?
ETA: I think people also want what others are getting. Oh, you got it overnight? I want it overnight. Oh, you had a drone drop it off in the middle of the day? I want a drone to drop off my item in the middle of the day. I don't care if it's a refrigerator I ordered, use a helicopter. J/K
Totally American

Totally AmericanI agree with that - 99% of the stuff doesn't really need to be delivered RIGHT NOW or on Sunday. The fast shipping I was thinking overall, not just holiday season where urgency is always much higher. An example of this is the willingness to buy loads of rubbish from China, super cheap, and wait for it to arrive. I have a couple of articles somewhere about this, maybe Marketplace Pulse, where lowest price was the biggest factor. ETA: This does have to be considered in context - where people whine if anything takes a whole 5 days to arrive, so the wait times there are telescoped, anyway.
