To me? What do they do? Why do you want them?

I wonder what the hashtags do also in the whole scheme of things. I know they are for twitter but I don't know why they use them. I kept hearing everyone say on TV last week to remember to post #release the memo. I knew what the memo was, but I didn't know why the actual hash tag mattered if you were putting that phrase on twitter.

Sort of reminds me of RSS feeds, but you can get more specific stuff with a hashtag and it's limited to Twitter discussions. If I'm understanding it correctly.

I use hashtags a lot on Twitter. I don’t really understand how to communicate with people on Twitter but hashtags are helpful for getting to things quickly. I’ve been obsessed with the Turpin family recently. Instead of googling and sifting through click-bait type of links, I can go to Twitter and start typing in Turpin and suggested tags come up. Search that and you can see all kinds of results and choose articles from trusted sources.

When I travel I will type in associated hashtags to the town I’m in on instagram. I can see what other public profiles have shared that day and see if they are at an event I didn’t know about. I have also searched for Pyrex and other things, including clothing to identify items. You’ll get info a google search won’t bring up.

Sometimes, those hashtags will show up in a google search. Great for "trending" stuff. And like Kat said. I think you found good articles to explain it
