Heaven forbid they throw a bone to their users. I went broke listing over there...ended after almost a year at -$48.00

I'm not making a killing over there, but I am staying out of the red.

I was making half my income over there for several months, then bam - hit a wall the 2nd week of January and only 2 sales since then.
ETA: As I mentioned in the other thread here - it goes from $450-500 in one month to $1200 in the next month, and I just have no clue as I don't change anything. I just keep chonking listings in there. I've been running sales, participating in promos, buy ad space, etc. I'm hoping in a month or so they'll turn the lights back on and sales will start being brisk again.

It was never really my goal to make a killing over there or turn it into a full time business. It's mainly my creative outlet. I NEED to make things and Etsy is a place to get rid of my overflow.
It's funny though, the stuff people thought would sell quickly just sits and the stuff I never thought would sell in a million years is quite popular. Go figure.

I often do so well over there that it has gotten to be a money-making operation, but with sales being so up and down, I think I'll look upon it as a hobby venture (expensive hobby, but if it pays for itself well...there we are). My items are visible - I get likes all the time, so I know they're found, it's just that the vintage market can be tough because I sell so much clothing. If I sold décor sales would be more even, but finding vintage décor around here is very difficult, and when you find it, it's high priced.

I think a lot of the "likes" i get are just people who want to copy my designs.

My account is currently suspended...why? Because I had an old card on file and they couldn't run it for the 20 cents I owe them. Seriously, I'm not kidding.

Oh good grief! They'll open it again if you call, I'm sure. Etsy is cheap to list on, but one ends up doing a lot more marketing than eBay.

I just have to pay it, but I don't have enough stuff to justify listing there right now. I just think it's funny because I'm sure their charge to accept the payment will be just as much as what I owe...if not more.

I've stopped sharing my own items on Pinterest... when I saw one of my designs pop up in a Cricut group... Nope. Now when I Pin ideas and stuff it goes to a private board, and I just use it for recipes and gift ideas and stuff. Pinterest is no joke if you're a designer who wants to keep her design.

That kind of thing is rife, and whereas I don't really deal with it as a vintage seller, I have had writing plagiarized, with the result that I barred two of my papers from being published online, whereas I had always allowed online publication in tandem with the regular publication. I didn't even think about it until I was reading someone's article about the subject on which I write (I'm a boxing historian) and all of a sudden it sounded danged familiar...then I realized, they had basically lifted some big chunks from one of my papers, and didn't give me any attribution. I thought somehow I was losing my mind until I realized, then I got angry. I don't have a common writing style so I could tell right away.
I'll bet it was similar to the feeling one gets when they see one of their designs ripped off.
The latest twist is the .top domains - fraudulent China sellers who scrape content from Etsy (and I'm sure others) and advertise it as their own - it's a complete ripoff. A few get shut down and others spring up, similar to the China fraud IDs that VERO is constantly shutting down, only to see more pop up. This irritates me because I did business with Chinese merchants for years before most people did, and found them to be ethical and honest folks, and I'm sure they're getting the effects of this, too.

This breaks my heart as well, the legitimate businesses in China getting a bad name over all this. We are all just trying to keep the lights on and the kids fed.
