I know a lot of people use GoFundMe but wasn't sure if there was a better one for vet bills or not. I've spent about $500 on Bella (our cocker/springer mix) the last 2 weeks between her regular scheduled exam and a UTI that won't clear up, plus some itchy ears which luckily cleared up with the first round of drops, though she needs some follow up drops every week. Now they want to do a X-ray and another culture on Monday that is estimated at $350-$400. Depending on what they find, there will be more bills after that and possibly surgery. No matter what I will get her taken care of but if I set up some type of fundraiser to help, I sure could use it. I was recently diagnosed with a genetic form of COPD and haven't even gone in to be checked out myself because I don't have insurance and can't afford the testing. Now I'm shelling out $1,000++ on vet bills. UGH But she's our baby and will always come first.

A lot of credit cards have a 1-year, no-interest deal, and you can transfer a balance from another card if you wanted to look into going that route so you can pay over time. I may be doing that myself.
I have three cats to vet in the next month, I think someone is peeing too much so we'll be doing blood work until we find out which one has an issue, although I have my suspicions so he's going first, and then there is whatever treatment is needed.

We have low rates on the ones we have, that's how I've been paying for her bills but other things have had to go on the cards too because I haven't been able to list due to my med problems and they aren't going to last much longer. Plus the payments are getting up there and hard to pay. Getting another to transfer over to, probably is not an option. Credit is fine but DH hasn't been at this job very long and isn't making nearly as much as he was at his previous job, he wouldn't qualify for a high enough card to transfer the balance over I don't think. I'm feeling better so plan to throw some things up this week to hopefully make some quick sales but with not knowing how much her next visits will be. I can't keep going deeper in the hole on credit.

They took it for the first year or so they were open but stopped, not sure if there was an issue with the company payments or what but it hasn't been offered for several years as far as I know. I haven't seen any type of credit services offered at our office in ages. I'll see what her results are Monday and go from there. If he thinks she needs surgery it's probably going to have to wait for a while, as long as she doesn't seem to be in pain or discomfort, she'll just have to hold off. I did see a cranberry powder online that you can put on their food, similar to cranberry pills people take (I have to take them to keep from getting kidney infections constantly), reviews say it works well and many pet owners swear their dogs went from constant UTIs and kidney stones to none after starting on it. Might have to order some to try it.

I know there are quite a few medical insurance as well as death insurance for pets now. Maybe you can ask your vet if they participate with any of them.

We had med insurance on our last dog and this one for a few years really it didn't pay for much when it was all said and done. It was cheaper to just save the monthly payments and pay out of pocket. With all their high co-pays and deductibles it they had excuses to get out just about every bill. I went up to the farm store this morning and picked up some urinary supplements for dogs made with marshmallow roots and cranberry and a big bag of blue buffalo life protection dog food, it has cranberry in it. She's been on Pure Balance almost all here life because it's actual meat and grain free. Her blood work has always been perfect with zero health issues until now. Never had anything wrong with her, this UTI is her first health issue and the vet can't figure out how it got worse in the last 2 weeks while she was on antibiotics. After looking online I am seeing several people reporting dogs with kidney issues eating the pure balance food in the last year or so. Gotta wonder if there's a connection. I'm not taking any chances with her health, I'm going to switch her over and see if it makes a difference in her kidneys.
The vet of course recommends science diet but it's such over priced crap filler food I am not putting her on it. There are healthier foods for urinary health out there if she needs one than science diet.

Pet insurance is rubbish. As peek said, they try to pay for nothing except a yearly check-up and vax. If the animal has a bad injury or when it's getting old, start praying. peek you say you haven't "seen" any payment plans at the vet. You have to ask. Not the receptionist, the actual vet. They should tell everyone about the option, but they don't. They have to like or pity you or the animal, it seems.

I haven't seen any type of credit services offered at our office in ages. Care Credit charges the vets a fee to take the card, just like PayPal does to us. My cat's vet doesn't like it because it's a high fee (to them). To me, it's a cost of doing business and it's for the convenience of your clients. It's all I can do to not tell them to stop whining, suck it up and take the damn card.

That's probably why they stopped taking them then if it's a high cost to them. There is another vet in town but I've never used him before and it's not the most up to date practice. This vet is a nice facility and stays accredited so I know they know what they are doing. This is the one she's always seen so I'll stick with them even if I have to put off the treatment a while. Think DD found a website that's better for pets than gofundme to set up a fundraiser thing, not sure if I'll do it yet but want to make sure I'm ready if I need it. I've donated to enough of them over the years, I don't feel bad setting one up for her if she needs it. We'll see what they say Monday.

Youcaring is the site DD found I think. I might have to take her back in before Monday. She is eating but she doesn't seem to be drinking much. I usually refill her water by afternoon and it was almost full still this afternoon. I did make sure to add extra water to her food tonight and she drank it so I know she had that water but she hasn't had any since. She's been wanting to go out more often too and I'm not sure if she's actually going or not, hard to tell in the grass, especially with it dark out there. She's still playing and isn't acting like she's in pain but if she doesn't start drinking she is going to have to go back in, in the morning. She usually gets a big drink right before she goes into her crate at night (she refuses to stay out of it at night) so hopefully she gets her nightly drink like normal here pretty soon.
Good news is she switched over to her new food with no tummy upset. I thought it would be ok since it was high quality food like she's use to but you never know.

Well crisis averted for tonight. After I posted that DD brought her in from outside and she got good sized drink. Then she wanted to play Frisbee in the house, which she normally wouldn't get to do but she's being spoiled right now. She played for a few minutes and now she is curled up on my feet in the recliner sleeping peacefully. May be able to wait until Monday after all.

Aww geez we are having a bad doggie week here. My sister wiener dog got attacked by her neighbors pit bull when he was out in her yard going potty last night. Luckily my nephew was outside when it happened, he was in the back of the pick up doing something and threw the spare tire at the dog, it hit her rump and she dropped their dog and ran home. He got lots of staples in his inside leg and tummy but nothing was broken, just sore and bruised up. Poor guy, he's pretty old, I know she's had him since her son was small and he's 17 now. She said he's doing pretty good today.
Bella seems to be feeling pretty good now, I think the cranberry chews or the new food are helping. She doesn't seem to be needing to go out as much and is back to her playful goofy self. Fingers crossed for good results Monday.
