Good morning virtual sellers!
Anyone participating in the latest listing promotion? That's 1500 free auction listings by March 19. I hope you've already gotten started. I'll keep the pot filled.

I LOVE listing auctions. Every single time, it boosts my sales whether there is a listing sale or not.

Waaah. My choice wasn't up there and I don't mean "I like pie." I do a few auctions here and there for items I feel might have some bid-up potential, but I don't have a few running all the time.

I'm with Terri. I only use auctions for lots or something I think might have good bid potential. This survey might change my mind. I've been on Ebay for 14 years & have been trying a lot of new stuff since I came to this group. Thanks for the inspiration to shake things up a bit

I edited the poll. Funny, I left out what would have been my choice too the first time, even though I had intended to include it.
Note to self: Don't create polls before partaking of caffeine.

I believe here that would be "I like cupcakes".

I got the promo, but really don't need it since I have an anchor store. Everything that I list new goes on auction. I will keep it on auction for at least 2 weeks. If I have watchers on it, I will relist into auction.
Dentist appt this morning, and will be stopping at GW on the way home to reward myself.
Hate Saturday sales, since I am always busy at GS or whatever....so have to rush home to mail stuff out. Or I lie and say that my PO closes early.

I like pie! And cupcakes! And auctions when I think the item will get a lot of bids OR I don't know what the value is but don't have much invested in it.

Same here. Speaking of pie, I just checked them out at Giant Eagle & passed. They looked very processed & store bought so it was easy to walk on by.

Yeah, Giant Eagle's baked goods leave a lot to be desired.

I have a crisper drawer full of apples so I think I'll make some apple crisp & pretend it's pie.

I had planned on starting to run most items as an auction at least once or twice before putting them in my store but then they had the sale so I figured the market would be flooded. Right now I've only done a couple of auctions on things I was fairly certain would sell the first round.
I haven't been invited to any of the sales since I've come back so can't vote there. Funny I was invited to pretty much every one right up until I started selling again, then nope no sale for me. The auction ones are the sales I'd like to get because then I could cycle a bunch through for free, those listing fees add up quicker than long FP listings so the FP listing sales don't save me much.

I love fruit crisps. I love anything with a crumbly or streusel topping.
I use auctions when I think it could go higher than the FP I have in mind, but I don't know how much higher. Or if I just don't have a clue what it might go for, but I'd be happy to get X. Then I start it at X.

The only time I ever do auctions is on my other selling ID where I don't have a store, so I'm 'forced' to do auctions by default. I never have luck with them. BUT, my DS, the 'occasional seller' listed a 2 pc. lot of Grateful Dead vinyl albums and had a little bidding war. It was his first time doing an auction listing. He became discouraged when he had no bids after the first day. I told him auctions work a bit differently than fixed price, to just have patience. He's becoming quite the little 'virtual seller' lol!

I use auctions all of the time. I use them for most the reasons everyone has said. I also notice that if I don't have any auctions going my sales drop.

I almost never run auctions. Only once in awhile when I have something really unusual or if I have a flawed item I don't mind just getting my investment back on.

I run them if it's something I think will be searched and do well on auction, and at certain times of the year. For me, they work pretty well during the dead between clothing season months. Or used to, until eBay started flooding the market with the free auction listing sales. Now I don't bother with auctions.

I don't like auctions as a seller or a buyer.
I am an immediate gratification gal.
When I see something I want, I want to BIN or most likely will lose interest because I will find something else I like just as much.
When I sell, something, I want my money now. Not tomorrow or 3 days from now but right now.

As a buyer, auctions USED to be fun when I knew who I was bidding against. There were a couple of IDs, we'd get into bidding wars on an item and the loser would email the winner a "congrats!". I used to buy lots of vintage scarves, too, and if I wasn't sure about some of the brands in tht lot, I'd bid higher than usual depending on who else was bidding. Some of the bidders knew their stuff and if they wanted it, there had to be something good in the lot that I didn't recognize. Worked every time I did that and won, too. I ended up with some nice, unexptected woo hoos using that strategy.
I think eBay hiding the bidder IDs killed auctions here.

I list with the auction format when there is a promotion or when it looks like the item I have will do better at auction. As a buyer I hate them. Even though I get a reminder on my phone I'm usually involved in something else and can't get a bid in.

99.5% of my listings are auction. The only time I used fixed price is higher valued items that I put at 20% of catalog value and best offer. Otherwise, 99 cent auctions 100% of the time. But then again, I'm the anomaly of the forum and don't sell clothing Although when I did, I still used almost all auctions.

I don't have a store. I seldom pay any listing fees. So, using the freebies I have to use auctions on many categories.

I'll do one every once in a blue moon but they always end with 1 bid. If I had better luck I'd do more of them.
