I'm pizzed. A friend of mine calls and wants to know where to find a kitty/cat. She's fairly new to the state, so I told her there's a place I know with a lot of strays. We head over there. Cats everywhere. We pick up two kittens and ask if we can have one. No - those have names and they're favorites. Okay - we catch a little long haired tiger gray looking kitty. At first it's a yes, then the wife comes out and she gets upset and goes back inside the house. We're now told, nope. She's upset. I try to explain that the kitty will get fixed, shots, wormed, inside, .... everything. Nope. We're told to come back around 5 when she feeds all of them. There's about 40 outside. Two of the females are pregnant. We both get in the car and do a WTF. I've tried to talk to them about selling the kittens really young, taking the money and getting the rest of them fixed. They're outdoor, quasi wild cats and the county doesn't care. We are going back tonight to grab a kitten. DH warned me not to start sh!t, but I am going to let them know that all the cats need medical attention sooner rather than later. Our local Every Creature Counts is closing due to lack of support. They've been around a long time and they can't do it anymore. So the window to do this low cost spay, neuter, shots, etc... with all these cats is closing.

When I say we're going back - we're going to watch her feed them and see which one she'll let us take. I swear, I'm going to start stealing them.

I would definitely be "rescuing" them. That is not stealing if it is for their own good.
Damn bitch hoarder! Persons like that really piss me off.

My sister has a neighbor like that. They live out in a wooded area but the cats are always over at her deck looking for food and hanging out. She finally nabbed one of the cats and took it to be spayed and so it began. One by one she would take them to the vet and get them fixed and then let them go back. She has no kids and is a cat lover and was so appalled at the way the neighbor hoarded the cats and let them reproduce.

We're going back up there. I'll get photos.
We are coming home with a kitty. I'm going to try and bargain with them a bit. Maybe offer to sell some kitties, give them half, use the other half to get the rest fixed.
I don't think I'll get away with being a cat burglar because of the way it's set up.
ETA: I never knew there were that many cats up there. They're populating like crazy.

We did come back with a little Siamese looking one with blue eyes. She's a cutie.
Thankfully there were not 40 cats. I saw about 15 and we gave them food, which they started fighting over. I reminded them that Every Creature Counts is closing soon. I'll talk to them again.
I don't even know what to say.

Definitely a hoarder. Dantes, you might have to fight this crazy with some crazy of your own. It's a mental illness and requires some compassion. But it equates to cruelty to animals and needs to be stopped. How hard have you tried with getting the county to act? Local rescues? Local papers?
You saw 15 cats. So there were probably another 15 hiding, and 15 in the house.
How did you get the one kitten? Did you pay? Was there much resistance?
I like Desire's idea of stealing them for a quick trip to the vet, then putting them back. lol. But it's still not ideal because they'll never get any medical help they need.
I bet she's got kittens breeding kittens. Heartbreaking.

Kittens can go into heat as young as 4 months but definitely by 6 months which is why it is recommended for cats to be neutered before they reach that age.
Definitely kittens having kittens. It breaks my heart.
I am so thankful that Texas in general and San Antonio in particular are so aggressive on animal hoarding and will not hesitate to seize the animals no matter how big or small.

Here's a photo I snapped. I can't stand how dirty everything looks. My friend took the small light one with the dark tail - kind of Siamese looking. I don't believe they have any cats in their home. Those two white big cats are females and they absolutely will not allow anyone to touch them. So they're ferals that will get close enough to eat, but that's it. There are two pregnant females.

Does the lady just throw food out on the concrete instead of bowls?
I am getting more upset just looking at that pic!

All I can say is that it is a good thing that I don't live anywhere near that bitch hoarder or my friend, Linda, would be spending the afternoon at an ATM trying to round up bail money so I wouldn't have to spend Saturday night in jail.
I have a real issue with people who won't even try to do the right thing. She has to know that what is happening at her house is definitely not the right thing for all those cats.

Yukk!! I just noticed cigarette butts thrown on the ground in that pic. You can see the camel color butt ends. SLOBS!

I don't think she comprehends that was she is doing is wrong. They both seem really immature, and the way she stomped around and shut the door when we wanted to take a gray one was bizarre.
I can't tell you how hard it is to communicate with these people.
Yes - cigarette butts are everywhere. So is small trash. It's really just yucky. The other modulars look well kept, but this one is just gross on the outside. Not sure why it's allowed.
ETA: I'm the one who put food on the ground. I brought two cans and some dry. They were suppose to be feeding all of the cats and then I brought food in case I needed to lure some out of hiding. I opened the can and realized that there were no dishes anywhere and the cats were going crazy at the sound.

I wouldn't be communicating; I would be luring the cats away with food and trapping them for spay/neuter under the cover of darkness.
Where there is a will, there is a way.
That is why Linda would be scrounging around for bail money. The trespassing charge could be a glitch in the plan.

Here's the problem - this is at a local dairy. The husband works up there and they rent a modular there, but the owner of the dairy owns everything. This place is right off the main road inside the dairy. The main workers will see someone driving up the long road that leads up there.
My best bet is to offer to sell them and give these people the funds and at the same time start working on getting them all fixed, shots, wormed... the whole thing. I don't mind taking them in. Needs to happen sooner rather than later because ECC is closing soon.

Call the health department and the animal cruelty department on the dairy, since they're the property owners.

I get why you're saying that, but I'd be afraid of the consequences. Meaning - all cats would be completely gone.
And I don't believe there are any laws regarding ferals on acreage. The county tends to take the approach that they don't have time for it.

My specialties are stealth and drop trap construction. We would be laughing a lot but we would get it done.

This place is right off the main road inside the dairy. The main workers will see someone driving up the long road that leads up there. Okay, here's the plan. We parachute chapeaunoir in, with Pat. Kritter has pulled up as close as she can with a large vehicle stuffed with cat carriers and two fold-up bikes. All parties rendezvous at the vehicle. Chap and Pat, each with a backpack of the size that would make any young Swedish guy proud, bicycle to the cat area. Luring the cats with wet food, they stuff the backpacks as full of cats as possible. Speed and stealth are required here. The backpacks have been treated with Feliway and catnip to minimise fighting and yowling. Chap and Pat don the lumpy, squirmy backpacks and ride back to Kritter. Transferring the backpacks to the vehicle, they agree to meet at a nearby HEB carpark to transfer the kittehs into the more seemly cat carriers. They take the kittehs to Kon's All-Nite Kitteh Fixery. Unloading the 56 carriers, Kritter says, "Here ya go, Kon, got a job for ya." Kritter, Chap and Pat retire to the nearest Fried Ochra and Beer joint in town, a good night's work behind them. The End

I have alerted Kon's All-Nite Kitteh Fixery and he has agreed to bring mobile surgery vans to the HEB parking lot to lessen the stress on all involved.
I will set up a GoFundMe page to cover any extra expense incurred by Kon and his team.
Lets do this!
