www.equifaxsecurity2017.comThis link goes directly to the Equifax site At the very bottom left hand side, there is a box "Potential Impact". You can click it to see if you were impacted by the "incident". DH wasn't I was It gives me a website to go to to sign up for credit monitoring. I swear, with all the security breaches all over the place, I think I've had free credit monitoring for the last 7 years for free ETA: I need to check both DS also. Yes, sometimes kids get hacked so make sure to check theirs too!

Thanks Liz, just checked mine. No impact. I will need to check DH's and DD's when I get home from work (don't have their SS#'s with me).

Did you see where three top execs sold Equifax stock before the breach was announced? Supposedly they didn't know about the breach, but one was the CFO. I find that very hard to believe. Says I was affected. My credit is so poor right now the hackers would probably pay me to take the info back.

I was potentially affected too. My credit has gone up considerably over the last year and I'm trying to get it high enough to buy a manufactured home next year. Hopefully, this won't be too detrimental.

I signed up for 9/14 - it says I'm not impacted but I need the whole picture.

My date is 9/12
I'll have to check my DH's and kiddos.
Anymore I think you have to keep a constant eye on your financials. Between hacks and card skimmers, and whatever else is out there. It sucks.

I sorta agree with the guy on ZDNet about handing someone else the last 6 of my social security number. They already have the entire thing; they f'n know who we are. They should come up with a different identifier for telling us if we're affected. 143 million postcards sounds about right, all with stamps personally licked by the jerks that identified a vulnerability and let it ride. Personally I HATE all 3 credit reporting companies... it's a knee-jerk reaction from a bad patch we went thru 10-20 years ago. Okay, knee-jerk over... thanks for posting this Liz.

Sounds like enrolling in their own identity theft protection service is not recommended.
"DON'T enroll me for an identity service that you already own. Once you enroll for this TrustedID service you find out Equifax owns it. At least splurge for a rival's service."

Why can't these hackers erase our debit...hahaha. Luckily neither my husband nor I have been affected.

I didn't sign up for the monitoring yet but it says I was most likely effected. I frequently check all my accounts and credit score though so I would know if something were amiss.

Thanks for the link, Liz. I am apparently not affected, which is amazing since I was the victim of identity fraud 20 years ago. A guy from Bell South (Gordon Bundy) got my SS# and opened a lot of accounts in my name. That sure was a nightmare to get out of.....took 2 years.
