Please, I need to ask the sleuths on the board for help researching a silver bolo. I went shopping at my usual spot, found this laying on the floor in the center of an aisle so I tossed it into my cart to look at later. That was a month ago and I totally forgot it until Saturday when I emptied my car. I spent a couple of hours last night on Google & Bing trying to find info about the silversmith with little luck.
The sterling silver bolo slide & tips is marked Morgan Smith with his artist logo at the center. Unfortunately it's damaged; the stone is missing and the braided leather is pretty tired. All I found were 3 listings that showed sold items which said he was Navajo but I couldn't find any mention of the artist on Native American silver mark sites. One of the listings was for a silver dollar belt with 1991 coins so my piece prob isn't too old. But I want to be sure the artist IS Navajo before I list it as such. DH suggested replacing the stone but I'll leave that to a buyer; if I replace the stone I'm keeping the bolo to give DH as a gift.
So maybe your version of Google will show you the info I can't find... maybe I'm searching with the wrong terms. I'd sure appreciate your help with this. TIA!

No help on the artist, but if you take the piece to your local friendly neighborhood rock shop, they can likely replace the stone very cheaply. I did that with a button that fell off a $400 top. They replaced the cabochon in the button with a polished rock & you can't tell the difference. Plus, they were thrilled to help with something creative.
