Picasa was discontinued by Google. You'll have to find a new photo editing program.

I think it works with Win 10, I'll test it later today, as I have both Win 10 & Picasa on 1 PC that I don't use very much. Like Unknown said, the fact that support has been dropped for Picasa, doesn't mean anything if she already has a working copy. It just means they cease updating the software, which they didn't do very much of anyway. It does NOT mean it can't be used any more. I use tons of discontinued software!
Unfortunately without being there & looking at your new setup, I really can't help with the new set up. Sorry. But I'll post later if it works with Win10.

Picasa works fine on Win 10. I have it on a laptop that came as Win 7, DH upgraded it to Win 10 & Picasa is still on it & still works fine.

OK, I'm going to hijack this thread but it's for downloading Picasa so I think it's OK. I clicked on the link above and it downloaded, now it's asking me if I want to view photos directly from Windows Explorer. I can choose to use it as the default viewer for several file types, choose any combination of those file types, or tell it not to use Picasa photo viewer. Should I tell it to use Picasa photo viewer or continue to use the Windows photo viewer (which I assume is what happens if I say no).

This page came up after I clicked to use Picasa photo viewer (it said I could change it later).
What's happening to Picasa?
Picasa is now retired. (If you speak English, you can read the blog post here.)
After Picasa is retired: •Picasa should continue to work anywhere it's installed, and you don't need to take any action. •There won't be any more updates to Picasa. •Picasa will no longer be available for download.
This would indicate I shouldn't have been able to download it. Off to see if it really downloaded or not.
ETA, it definitely downloaded. Now to figure out how to use it...

You choose whichever viewer you prefer as your default. It's totally up to you. I have made Picasa my default viewer for everything. I also have turned off the facial recognition, which will make the original import go faster if you don't care abt having facial recognition (& pretty poor facial recognition at that). Since it's new to you, you may want to wait & see which you like best. But Picasa is quite robust & very easy to use, so I would be surprised if you don't choose it as your default.
Good to know that it still downloads, thanks for posting that!

I've had facial recognition for quite awhile, but I turned it off almost immediately. I can see how it would be very helpful if you do social media though & for making album categorization. I totally see many useful applications for it, but I don't do social media & there are so few people in my photos, that I don't need help identifying them LOL. 90% of my photos are Ebay clothes.

I would like to try PS Elements. We have "LYNDA" available to us (meaning my workplace) so I can take the tutorials. Just have to round up some money to pay for the program. I also would like to use it during down time at work but I have to see if it is on the work stations in our wing.
