I love that one, Kritter. The best ones are where the captions fit the cats perfectly, and this one does.

It is a calico.
White, black, and orange cats are calico.
Black and various shades of orange cats are torties.
Both calicos and torties are 99% females. Male torties or calicos are very rare.

So this colour cat, in the US it's called a calico? If the colors are pale, it's a dilute calico. If it doesn't have white it's a tortoiseshell. I shouldn't even say it, but calicos are my favorite. My childhood cat was a calico. The universe sends me everything but calicos. I get the feeling that the Goddess is playing with me.

Wonder if this is a review. Obviously not all cats love it.

The universe sends me everything but calicos. I get the feeling that the Goddess is playing with me. We don't seem to have the term "calico" in Australia. I always wondered what a calico cat was. Sounded cool. We seem to just call anything with orange and black "tortoiseshell". Which is dumb, really. On her adoption form, Bubby is down as "tabby, tortie and white". The "tabby" is because there are stripes in her orange and black. I sooooo wanted a tortoiseshell (calico) cat. But there were NO kittens around when I desperately needed one, so when I heard about Bubby I decided to get her no matter what she was. And she turned out to be calico! A vet once told me that Lydia is a calico (blue, cream, white). But now I know she's a dilute one. Thanks to you ladies, there'll be no tricking me now!

Here a Tortie with tabby stripes is a Torbie.

Would my Cleopatches have been a torbie? She was a tabby with black, orange and white. Not that it matters since she passed over the rainbow bridge.
