Being allergic I cannot get close enough to answer this question..Do kitten smell good like puppies do? I know my little Stinky smelled really sweet when he was young I was just wondering if it was the same with kittens. I am sure one of the CCLs can let me know, lol.

YUP YUP YUP............... this is our house. Dylan, our beagle is in one recliner, Kirby, the other beagle is in the other recliner. Stanley (chihuahua is laying on the bed, (on the pillow of course) and Lucy, the cat, is in the other upholstered chair. I had to wheel my office chair into the living room so I can sit in front of the snack table where I have my computer at the moment. Uh-oh...... I gotta go. It is time to feed them, walk the dogs and clean the litter box.

This is probably one of those highly subjective things. I think dogs have a stronger scent than cats in general, but maybe I just don't notice cat smells much because I'm around them all the time. Cats don't smell good or bad like dogs do. Ever.

Serves them right for giving the cat a bath. In 45 years of cat ownership I've only once had a cat who needed his feet washed off when he walked across the neighbor's driveway that had just been sealed.

Alli, the other ladies are right. Cats don't smell.
And apparently they fart, because all mammals fart, but I've never smelt one. Unlike with dogs...
But generally I try not to stuff furry things up against my nose and inhale. I'm not allergic, but some activities are just a step too far. However, Bubby has no boundary issues so I've had some pretty good sniffs of her, especially since she's been sleeping on my pillow. No smell. Vile breath when her mouth was infected, though.
Birds always just smell like birdseed to me. Unless they're poultry and you've chopped their heads off and immersed them in boiling water to pluck them...dear lord, I will never forget that smell. I could gag just thinking about it. Wet chook is much worse than wet dog.

My old lady cat (now 21) needs bathed every 6-8 weeks because she starts to smell like urine. She doesn't wash herself anymore and she has accidents in her little cat bed. I use baby shampoo and try to make it as painless as possible, but I have to do something to stop the stink and the matted hair.

Birdies only smell like birdseed if they have just been eating. It is so funny but they all have a slightly different smell especially when they have been sleeping. We had one that smelled like fritos and Stinky smells like sweet milk, they also get morning breath sometimes a little like tuna, lol.

In 45 years of cat ownership I've only once had a cat who needed his feet washed off when he walked across the neighbor's driveway that had just been sealed. When I was little, I had a cat that I'd bathe, dress in doll clothes and push in a doll stroller. I thought this was normal cat and girl friendship until we got a second cat. Never had a cat so mellow since. Last winter, Sherlock bolted out the door during a storm. He came back covered in mud. I towel dried him but his feet were filthy. I put some water in the tub and lowered his feet in to rinse them. He didn't like it, but tolerated it. I have two cats and have never found an accident in the house except for a hairball once. The day after dipping Sherlock's feet in the tub, I discovered a turd in there. I think that was his way of letting me know without a doubt, baths are not acceptable.

As for farting...we had a tuxedo with the worst farts in the world. My sister thought a cat had taken a dump in my living room but it was only Sox letting off off one of his silent but deadlys.
