Need Macbook/Apple anti-virus or malware advice

I know some of you are Apple users and I need some advice. This isn't an eBay or Etsy question but rather my website. For the last 2 weeks a banner? has been appearing at the bottom of my SBI (website builder) home page after I log on. It's a black bar across the bottom of the page that says this... "Your computer blocks 3rd party cookies by default. Click on this page to allow 3rd party cookies from our partner Ad Roll to help tailor ads you see. Learn about 3rd party ads or opt out by clicking HERE. (an underlined clickable link). This message only appears once. Accept (click the X) and close."

Why is it there? This page seems to be the ONLY place I've been online where that appears and it's only attached to their/my home page. That's what I use to navigate their site where my site is hosted. It doesn't appear their forum, or anyplace else I click thru to. And it's not true- the message appears again & again, day after day. I normally use Safari as my main browser (Macbook pro user with all the updates completed) but it also appears when I use Firefox or log into the site using Google. I cleared my cache of tons of cookies and restarted my computer but that made no difference. I do allow websites I visit to set cookies but delete them & history regularly. I just tried my husbands PC using Firefox/Google and it's not there whether I use his login or mine.

So is it their thing, an Apple thing or a virus on MY computer? I posted about it on their forum and was told that I'd probably picked up a virus and should run a virus scan. Does that sound likely? I think I've asked before but what's the recommended anti-virus or malware program in 2016? Hopefully something that doesn't slow my machine down too much and doesn't cost too much? I appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks!

It's there from your hosting provider. Free/cheap website? They're doing it to 'tailor' the online ads you see to help support the cost of whatever services you get from them.

I think unknown is right, it's your hosting provider, not a virus. You might look into a paid site instead, like BigCommerce, Shopify, Squarespace or Weebly.

That's exactly what I thought too. It is a paid site- I've been with them 7+ years as has my husband. But the banner isn't on my site when I log in thru my husbands PC and it's not on his site he also has hosted thru them. Their site itself doesn't show ads and I don't have Google ads on my own website. The mod on their forum said it must be my computer with a virus; maybe if I ask again on their Facebook page it will get more attention and a straight answer. I really don't care if they wanna track me with cookies; I'm the most boring person online and will bore them with my clicking habits. But I expect them to be honest about it.

As I've been checking preferences I remembered that I've had some crashes lately on certain sites- this one for example. About 2-3 weeks ago I changed my preferences when doing an update to allow a report to be sent to Apple re: the crashes. Last night I noticed that they send the reports to 3rd party advertisers. Ad Roll is a 3rd party advertiser complaining that my cookie blocker is on. So maybe it had something to do with that; I turned off the reports but haven't checked this AM to see if the banner is still there.

Have you tried hitting the accept button?

Safari sucks now. I'm slowly re-bookmarking everything on Firefox. Once it's all on FF, I'm dumping Safari. Way too many issues on multiple websites.

Actually, every single time I click any internal link on the page, I'm automatically accepting their cookies and the banner disappears. Until I close my browser and later return to the site the banner is back which I think is strange.

I looked up Ad Roll... they're a HUGE legit corporation dedicated to tracking JQ Public's browsing habits. No idea why it's attached itself to that one page tho; I must have picked up the banner from somewhere like Facebook. Gonna ask my SIL later- he & DD are my go-to IRL geeks; he's in school for coding & hardware and she's into website & marketing. Maybe they'll have a suggestion. 

But I should have an antivirus program on tap. My Comcast account comes with Norton but the last time I tried it my computer speed was really affected. Any other suggestions for Mac?
