Got my answer-that was fast and was what I was afraid of. In my new listings, I will turn off the option in each listings, but will let the other ones go. Hello Denise15601 Yes at that time they will strip all invalid content from the listing pages from being displayed on their site. If you would like to make the update before hand you are able to turn off the description images option directly within your listings pages at inkFrog, it is a one by one process. I'm sorry we do not have a bulk edit option available for this option. Might be a good time to pull and consign/donate all the dead wood.

I'm really confused about this. Does it mean all the photos have to be removed my description? I already disabled the scrolling gallery a while back. I use Auctiva. How would I remove the photos from the description?

Apparently eBay will remove those. Do you have another set of pics on the upper left? Those are through eBay. They will remain.

So, I don't need to do anything to my listings?

I don't think so, but I guess you should ask Auctiva if they will be removed by eBay.

The photos are not active content if they're embedded with simple HTML.

I did notice that the tested listing did upload faster on my cell when I removed the pics in the description.

I haven't been putting pictures in my description for a while (or even description on some stuff - just Item Specifics). Haven't noticed any change in sales. I do have the scrolling Inkfrog thing which isn't even showing right so I have to go in & get rid of that when I have some time to play around with it.

Did you check the description button in IF under the pics? That keeps them out of description.

Yes, that's checked in all my listings. When I didn't write anything in the description box it wouldn't let me proceed so I had the scroll thing in there to overcome that. Lately I've just been putting a blurb in the description box to scroll through & enlarge all pix for details so I don't really need the Inkfrog scroll thing. Have to figure out how to get rid of it~

I use embedded pics along with ebay hosting. I wouldn't have any idea how to use IF and NOT have them embedded, they only show up for me with ebay hosting if I schedule them to list and don't list immediately. The preview button didn't look any different for me though, except for the scrolling gallery.

I contacted Auctiva and here is their response:
"Hello,
Thank you for contacting Auctiva Support to share your concerns.
Please be rest assured that it is our complete goal to ensure the level of tools and functionality (including the scrolling gallery, counters, and templates) you have today will continue in spring 2017 or whenever eBay starts to roll out changes. We meet with eBay to discuss options on a regular basis. Currently eBay is not completely sure how they plan to implement these changes from a technical perspective, but we continue to stay involved in conversations and provide our input with Auctiva users in mind.
Our understanding of eBay's main goals with respect to active content, are around site security and a great mobile experience for consumers. Auctiva was already aware and in-line with these eBay goals when we released the new scrolling gallery, which is HTML5 compliant, and looks great in a mobile environment. If you're not using the new scrolling gallery in your listings, you should; it will improve the viewing experience on mobile for your buyers and will help increase your conversion rates.
At this point, I would not recommend any changes (other than removing the old, flash based scrolling gallery). As we continue to work with eBay we will keep our users informed, especially as we finalize a direction. Again our complete goal will be to ensure you, as a seller, will continue to have access to the tools and functionality you currently have in Auctiva with little or no impact to you.
We see these changes on eBay as an opportunity to improve the Auctiva product, and find new ways to solve problems for online sellers, and ultimately provide value to you.
We thank you for choosing Auctiva, and you have a wonderful day.
Sincerely,
Auctiva Support
Status: Hold - Proposed solution"

I'm glad eBay is dumping Flash and all related crap like that.

Denise and others that had pics hosted in their description (second set of pics). They will be fine! They are not flash! No need to remove them. No need to stop putting them in if it's your preference to have them there.
I use Auctiva. I always put pics at the end of my listing description in addition to the eBay hosted pics. The only thing that will be disappearing from my plain template is the scrolling gallery at the very bottom.

Ok, but why are the pics in my description deleted in the Active Content previews?

Ok, but why are the pics in my description deleted in the Active Content previews? I think you said they were javascript upthread? That would be why. when we released the new scrolling gallery, which is HTML5 compliant, You can convert formerly Flash-based, etc., content to HTML5 which is just a markup language - that's permissible. I hate Flash - I have it disabled on my other account - I did it from the command prompt so that I could turn it on or off on individual instances. I can't on this account because it's my work account.

Got this e-mail from Auctiva this morning:
"Dear superiorquality4less,
As you may have heard, eBay will block active content starting spring 2017 to improve mobile shopping and security.
What is active content? JavaScript, Flash, form actions and plug-ins. Currently, some Auctiva features contain these, but we're upgrading our tools so they comply with this new policy when it takes effect next year.
As one of eBay's largest third-party listing services for 18 years, we're used to eBay changes, and we've always kept up. This ban on active content is no different. Rest assured, our tools, including the Scrolling Gallery and templates, will be available and compatible with this change, and mobile responsive.
Please continue using our tools with full confidence. We'll keep you posted as we upgrade our features and introduce new tools to help you succeed."

This is a bittersweet change. Does anyone have an example of a listing w/ an html5 compliant gallery/scrolling image type thing?
People that use Auctiva, are you paying for Auctiva or is there a free version you're using?

Hi, folks. I just published an article today about Active Content. www.ninjatemplates.com/active-content-kills-ebay-listings/Among other musings, it explains what Active Content is, why it's being blocked, and what you can do about it. Of course, I recommend that you let us handle the issue for you. You'll be upgrading to a fully Mobile-Responsive Store and Template Design and getting rid of all of your Active Content at the same time!

So I got another Active Content notice last night. In April, I had 1,761 with active content, May 881 with and now 467 with. I have done nothing to remove the AC since I don't understand it. Wondering if in July, it will be down to 0? ?? Nah.

Hmmm...maybe it's being removed in stages?
People are getting active content notices that have no active content in their listings. I checked a couple of yours and don't see any active content. Can you post one where you got the notice? If I could see the HTML/code I could probably suss out where the glitch is, though the 'glitch' could just be eBay's wonkiness.

I don't see anything specific - in particular no flash, and no working java. That's with my kind of rusty programming skills - maybe zoesam could look at it.

Thanks Chap. The eBay reps told me months ago that the second set of pics from IF was the only problem and that eBay would remove them. If so, why then do I get the warnings?
