Even though I have a different one open and requested the print from that doc. It's almost like the printer que is stuck on this one document. I cleared the que and some console report, removed the printer and reinstalled it, got one new doc to print and now it's the same old one printing again. I'm on Mac, El Capitan. I even deleted adobe reader dc thinking that was it, but now I wonder if it's the printer. HP inkjet. Anyone ever have this happen? It's like being stuck in the movie Groundhog Day

Shut down your computer. Shut off and unplug the printer. Give it a couple of minutes. Start over fresh. HA! I learned that technique from calling customer support. A lot Whatever it is, I hope this help!

When my printer decides it just won't print or goes wonky, I used to try turning it off and back on, no help. I have to turn my entire laptop off and restart it. It's the laptop 75% of the time when it's not plugged in.
As Liz said above, sometimes unplugging everything and waiting a few minutes does help clear things up.

On my printer there is a inset button in the back that resets it to factory, do you have that? On mine once you push it you have to use your cd to set it back up just like it's new out of the box so of course don't do it if you don't have the original install CD but it may fix your problem if you do.

Already tried the turn off/unplug and even did a remove/reinstall. But I didn't look for a reset button, peek, I'll try that this afternoon when I get back. I really don't want to buy a new printer, I like this one But at least I've figured out it's the printer and not the computer, so that's good (new printer is a LOT cheaper than a new Mac desktop ).

What's weird (or funny TBH) is the doc it keeps printing. Older doc, I've printed lots since I printed that one.

I'm on windows, but maybe the mac works similarly - when I go to my windows control panel, I find "devices and printers", I click on my hp printer, and from there I see an icon that says "see what's printing", and I can delete items on that list

The doc it's printing doesn't show on the list. It shows whatever doc I just sent as the one that is printing. But what comes out is a doc from weeks ago. And the one I want to print is also in the view, so I know it's the right one. Arrggh. It's like this old doc is stuck in the printer memory.

I'm on windows so ymmv, but before my old hp printer gave out it had all kinds of issues. One thing I used to have to do was manually shut off the Print Spooler, to get it to clear. I don't know if that is an option on a mac?

It appears to be a printer issue. The latest HP download doesn't seem to like to work with El Capitan. However...I downloaded from your link, Jeremy, and now my very old (over 10 YO), plain jane HP inkjet (no scanner, no copier, just a inkjet) works with my newer mac! It didn't before, and it was slated to be donated next weekend. So thanks for the link, because it's working great with both my macs now! Guess the 3 in 1 HP will be donated instead. Ugh.

Yeah, I was happy to get that older HP working. The cartridges are cheap and it's been an awesome workhorse! I paid <$30 when I bought it, new.
