I was taking some ebay pics this morning and got sidetracked by the flowers.

I covet your garden, but not your humidity.
Those trumpet flowers are stunning!

Absolutely gorgeous! Love how all the red/purple/magenta shades blend-in together.

Thank you. I covet your lack of humidity but not all the brown that seems to be the theme there. I bought those trumpets from a mail order place several years ago. they were tiny plants. I have two more of the trumpets but they are not quite as big as these two are. They froze back to the ground the second year that I had them and came back with a fury. I think out last bad freeze was about 3 years ago.

Absolutely gorgeous! Love how all the red/purple/magenta shades blend-in together. Totally accidental on the color scheme. More like whatever colors happen to be on the sale rack and where I had space to plant at the time. I remember having some white bougainvillea too but they don't seem to weather the cold like the darker colors do.

Beautiful garden. I don't guess you let the cats out there.

The 4 outside girls, Sophie, Sadie, Mirage, and Bonnie live out there all the time.
They own the backyard and patrol the perimeter.

The reason I thought you wouldn't have your cats in the back yard is that trumpet flowers are in the nightshade family and supposed to be kept away from small children and pets. It's on lists of plants toxic to pets. Your cats must have an aversion to it so don't nibble.

The cats don't seem to nibble on any of the plants.
They might eat a little grass now and then but pretty much leave all the flowering plants along except to lie down on the small ones or bury them with mulch when covering their business.
The trumpets have been there for 3 or 4 years so I guess they don't appeal to the these cats.

Anything but all that brown, tan, and beige.
Its like they don't sell colored paint there.

Kritter, Your yard looks GORGEOUS!
Are the trumpet flowers a vine? They are amazing.

Roy, my trumpets are trees. I think there is such a thing as a trumpet vine but these guys are trees. My last two trumpets are blooming for the first time this year. I didn't know what color they would be. It looks like both are white flowers. And my hibiscus are blooming too.

Roy, I think what Kritter has are Brugmansia, or Angel's Trumpets. The trumpet vine is actually a vine and the flowers are similar but smaller, probably half the size of Kritters. The vine usually comes in yellow or a gorgeous flame orange.
