I have about $150 + dollars accumulated on a Disney Rewards card. It was earned through our Visa card and came in handy when we were planning/taking our trip to Disney. We probably won't be going there anytime in the foreseeable future. I researched eBay and people do sell them, but I'm not sure of the pros and cons (well I know the pros) associated with that. Does anyone have any experience or similar experience selling rewards/gift cards? I'm thinking that I'd like to sell mine. The points/$$$ don't expire until 2017.

I've sold a couples of gift cards on eBay but it was back in 2011. One sale for a Bed Bath & Beyond card went through without a hitch. The other, a Lowes card, had two non payers. It sold successfully the third time listed.
There is a lot of scamming with gift cards. All I can recommend is that you check bidders' feedback and join dates carefully.

I haven't sold a gift card in YEARS. I think if I had one, I would try and sell it locally or on a Disney enthusiasts group (Passporter or something similar if they allow it)

Thanks Titus and Liz. The only problem I can see is if a buyer claims the card is no good. There might be other pitfalls, but I am not aware of them.
And one thing that struck me odd was that some of the Disney Rewards cards that were sold sold for more than face value. Why would that be?
I would save it for DS for his high school band trip to Disney - but that won't be until 2018, and by then, half of the points/$$$ would be expired.

I'm kind of wary of selling or buying gift cards on eBay anymore. There's too much fraud. And I always wonder where some of these sellers obtain these many gift cards. There is someone selling Amazon cards for high amounts. I can see one or two gift cards but that many?

Sometimes GC go higher than face value because of the various online shopping "points/rewards" then top that with eBay bucks and PP/CC cash back on purchases. It's crazy. I know.
Yes, the only downfall I can see is you get a slimy buyer to claim SNAD.
I seriously would sell it on CL and only meet up at the police station.

You might check to see when the card expires once the points are redeemed. I cashed out my points when we went in 2013 and it is treated just like cash. Might be worth holding onto for DS.

Funny you should mention that Chem. DD said she would like to go to Disney World with her friends *one of them being her boyfriend* during the January break. So I'm going to redeem them for Disney Gift Cards and give her and her BF them as Christmas presents. Luck helped me solve that problem, but it's good to know. I have almost $50 on another Disney redemption card that expires in December of this year. I just found out that I can use that $$$ to buy Disney Gift Cards too.

lol....I just realized how old this thread is. I'm terrible about checking other sections of the board. Glad you found a good solution!
