I hate selling stuff on Facebook yard sale groups. All the no shows and scammers. I put my iPad and a old Dell XPS 8500 up for sale.
I try to vet the people before I respond.
I don’t have them on the marketplace yet. Just the yard sale groups.
I think I am going to put up shipping boxes next. They take up so much room.

I finally buckled down and cleared out my dining room box hoard last weekend. Massive haul of shipping boxes and misc. cardbaord for the recycle pickup last Wednesday. Still have some for next week's pickup but only stragglers.
I am at the "This stuff is gone" stage. I have maybe 20 listings including some that are in my relist folder. I am done with this gig. I am taking my house back.
Next project is to get these foster kits adopted.

I put my Filson stuff back up in the Filson groups. Next will be eBay if I don’t get any bites. Early yet for that as it is winter stuff.

Either that or burn it.

Today I sold two $40 Peace of Cloth suits that I have had listed for about 10 years. That works.
FB local pick-ups are a challenge. Men ghost me about 50% of the time.
I did get rid of my grandson's trampoline last Saturday. Gave it away for free. First 2 people ghosted me, but the third lady did come. What a PITA for them to take it apart. But now I finally don't have to mow around it, and then beg for someone to move it when the grass underneath it gets too high.
Jaxson hasn't mentioned it being gone. My daughter had told him that it was broken. White lie there. He only used it about 3 times but didn't want me to get rid of it.

I stuffed a bunch of assorted stuff into some trash bags and left it at the door of the church thrift shop last weekend. Some former ebay items but a lot of things from around the house that I don't want to deal with. I have shifted into high gear on eliminating things that I don't use or don't make me smile when I look at them. Still have a ways to go but I am committed.
Doors to rooms will not be closed because I am embarrassed for someone to see the chaos in that room.

I hear ya both! We had a mystery stench in our basement laundry room last week that we couldn't find. Turns out that one of my upstairs cats was the culprit. But in order to find the source of the odor we had to empty the laundry room, It was a mass of boxes of inventory, fabric, bedding and out of season wear (not all my stuff). It all got hauled outside to deal with later. Well, the heatwave ht, I'm babysitting and there it still sits. I sorted it last Sunday but may just send most of it to the thrift store. It's all clean- the odor was coming from the ceiling so nothing was affected. But I have plenty of inventory and am sick of the mess. It's wonderful to walk into the laundry room and not dodge bags & baskets of guilt.

You will not regret it. You are halfway there with all the stuff out of the room. I am still working on the dining room today. Monday will be another big trash day. I am not even waiting for the Wednesday recycle day.

I was on a drawer cleaning kick, next is the closet. I sold a lot of my own good stuff during lockdown when I was out of inventory, but I have more in there. It mostly just has to go. In August any summer inventory that hasn't sold, and is just ordinary stuff, goes to the thrift. I'm not lagging it over until next year, particularly if it hasn't sold in two summers. The other items I'll keep and hope for better times next summer.

I used to have 3 rooms I pulled the doors shut to. Now I have one room that I all the "RV" room because 80% of the stuff in there goes into the RV if I decide to travel in it again. It needs to be organized better and I will get to that this winter. The other 2 junk rooms became the grand dog room and the library. I have a stand up tanning bed in the library that needs to be sold or given away. My primary garage has a 3 tap keg system that also needs to be sold or given away. I have offered that keg system to 2 different people and neither one can be bothered to come pick it up for FREE!!, it's a $1000 system that just needs a good pressure washing because the doors got left shut and it got nasty on the inside. It has wheels I am about to push it down the driveway to the stop sign with a free sign so I can get my garage back. It was last part of the restaurant liquidation that had been doing prior to retirement.
I have a beer can collection that no one wants about 6 or 7 boxes of them, I think that is going on curb alert also. I talked to 3 different collectors and they aren't interested in the cans, not worth anything.
When I first came home after DH died the clutter made me anxious, so I did so much de-cluttering during the winter to try to make the space I actually use and live in a calm place for me.
I too have disinfectant and cleaners that are not my favorite, I have been using those while I cannot smell anything, lol. I just opened a container of disinfecting wipes that are horrible, trying to decide whether I just throw out.

Val came over to visit the kittens on Saturday. The momkat is in the bedroom that used to have the door closed. Well, it is still closed now because the momkat is in there. When I opened the door, she said "Wow, this room is so big" which is exactly what I said when I threw all the crap that was in there away.
I finished deboxing the dining room on Saturday. My next project is to go through each room and declutter all the horizontal surfaces. Then will move to a room by room drawer cleanout. I am focused.
Val and I talked about her inventory of plus size clothes that she was going to get rid of and after she left, I thought about buying it from her to sell on ebay. Yikes, I almost got drawn back into the game but looked at my deboxed dining room and quickly discarded that plan. I am focused.

I cleaned out my portion of the bedroom closet - it now has about 1/3 of what it had. I had already sold stuff out of there, but now I just sorted everything. The DH saw all of the items and said "It's all black!" LOL. I like black.
So I have about 10-15 items to sell this winter, several went into donations - a number of the items should fetch pretty well.
Next up: Inventory. That happens in August.

I usually put everything I want to get rid of in the drive and post it on nextdoor. It goes fast, then whatever is left over I toss in the car and drop off at the bins. My problem is I have a LOT of strollers and car seats at the moment. Most of the strollers had a lot of shipping damage to the boxes so I had to put them together to make sure they were undamaged. Now my dining room is full of strollers and car seats. Just listing them locally so they aren't selling fast. I'd have to buy all new boxes if I shipped them and with ebay charging fees on shipping too, I'd lose a ton of profit to fees. Need to join some Mom Facebook groups to list them. I still have 5 or six waiting to be put together. I figure if they start bringing in enough money I'll rent a controlled climate storage building down the road. For now they are taking over the dining room, my bedroom and the garage lol

LOL - that gives me a funny image! The DH's office for a while was awash in keyboards and mice when we were selling a lot of those - it looked pretty strange.
My next door neighbour does pretty well selling stuff on NextWhine - after I'm done cleaning out and see what I have, I'll probably try that. She gave me some tips and pointers.

I was going to donate but I have too much good stuff left to not at least give it all one cycle on eBay this fall. But once that's over, I want it all gone. I want my closet back. I want to use eBay time for crafts instead.

Pretty sure I can withstand the momentary temptation. I have come too far to slide back to the dark side. It is a relief to look around my house and not see all the ebay clutter everywhere.
All I see now are empty Fancy Feast cans waiting to be hauled away. And cats.

Sold the ipad today. Had the bank check the $100 bill before I deposited it. Made them get change for the second $100 bill. I think I am going to post no bills larger than $20's. Ugh. 2 big guys. Was a tad uncomfortable but I wanted the sale and they could meet me during the day. Hubby wasn't home yet otherwise I would have had him do it. Granted $175/200 isn't a lot of money in the scheme of things.

It is but it wasn't worth risking my life for. I changed my other listing to say "no big bills". Usually it is a man and a woman when 2 people come to a sale. I was just extra careful and held everything until they handed me the money. Showed them it turned on while taking it out of the box and holding it.

Counterfeit money detector pens are pretty cheap on ebay. Doesn't hurt to check smaller bills, too. MY GW used a pen on $5 and up and there were several instances police were called for counterfeit $5, $10 and $20 bills.

I think that’s what the bank teller used. Not to scare you, but these pens are not foolproof. In fact, we didn't even use them when I worked in the cash side of banking. There is a multitude of things that counterfeiters put on bills that cause the pens not to work. There are also counterfeits that are on the actual money "paper" - i.e a bleached $5 made into a $50 for example. We had a small machine with a backlight we could lay a bill on to help us look at bills if needed. Also, bills that are real generally have some texture if you run your nail down the suit part of the portrait. Most, but not all, fake bills will feel smooth. However, this doesn't work on well worn bills. For what its worth, I have seen way way more counterfeit small bills than large. The shiny strip in the newer style hundreds is a far better counterfeit deterrent. Also, just an FYI - if you do take a fake bill into the bank they will have to confiscate it and YOUR name will be the one to go on the form that must be sent to the Secret Service. If you do somehow end up with an obviously fake bill I would just discard it.

Pyrex she did the other tests first. He had two brand new $100 bills. I deposited it. If it comes back fake, so be it. The guy went into Target and came out and his car went by the front doors when he parked it. His name and address checked out so I think I am good. And I told the teller why I was checking it.

If the teller accepted it you should be good I would assume! Where I worked if we accepted the bill it was then on us if it was counterfeit. We had to tell the customer and take it at the point we were given the bill. If the customer left, it was then our problem.
