Does anyone know how to reset a password you've forgotten in Facebook?
I've tried using the phone app, but for whatever reason, it's not receiving the texts from FB with the security code. And no, I do not have FB blocked on my phone.
I managed to get to a page the other day that wanted me to upload my Drivers license. Unfortunately, it wanted me to hold the stupid thing up to my PC camera, then kept telling me I didn't have enough light to capture the picture.
Help is of no use, it keeps telling me to log in and reset my password. And then asks for my password, to log me in, so I can reset the password.
I really HATE Facebook.

I know I'm in the minority, but I think NOT being on Facebook is a good thing...

Unfortunately I have a FB ID and even if I left FB, I'd still want to shut down my FB page. I have to log in to do that They don't even have online chat to help you. Googling was of no use because the help pages appear to be out of date, along with most of the articles written by others.

Can you try to log in to reset password on your computer and see if you can have them email the security code? I am not much help here but sometimes you get more options on computer than phone.

I use a MacBook and an iPad and both store my passwords. Sometimes a password will not auto-fill, but I can go into Settings, then Passwords and look them up. I seem to recall that you have a Mac, so thinking maybe you have this option?

FB doesn't email a link apparently. I tried thru my phone app but the texted code doesn't come thru. I have my phone set to accept texts from FB, and it's the same phone number that is on my account, so it has to be a FB glitch.

I seem to recall that you have a Mac, so thinking maybe you have this option? My hard drive was replaced last weekend. The Mac recalled a few passwords but not the FB. The PC reloads the info, but the saved password isn't the current one. Jandskight sent me a link to an article on MSN that had one tip I haven't tried, so I'll try that one. Hell, even the banks and credit card companies don't make it this hard to recover/reset a password, and you have a LOT more to lose on bank and credit card accounts than you do on a stupid FB account.

I guess I should figure out my Facebook password so I don't run into this problem. My phone and computer just automatically log me in, lol. I have no idea. I will take this as a warning, sorry you are having problems I hope the article leads you to a solution.

Yup. Didn't work. I have access to the email and cell number. What I don't have is the ability to "use the last computer you logged in from" because they both have a new IP address now. The PC because I had to reset the router, and the Mac because the hard drive was replaced. I truly do NOT understand why FB makes it soooooooo hard to reset a password. Hell, it's not this hard to reset my credit card passwords, my bank passwords, or even my password at the Social Security website I'm going to try next week to "improve" the lighting at my desk and then see if I can get to the "upload your ID" stage again.

I have the same trouble with my phone and USAA. I never remember my password and their codes never come through on my phone. Luckily they will still email one so I get it that way. I know so many people locked out of their fb accounts, you aren't alone. Most just start a new one.

I think I've figured out why FB makes it so hard to change your password. Multiple "help" articles all say "if all else fails, just start a new account". I think FB counts on a minimum % of users to do this. So now you have x% of the FB member base with multiple IDs because they couldn't access their old account. Because they can't access their old account, both ID/member names remain "active", thus artificially inflating the number of "total" accounts FB has. This comes in handy for FB when pitching ad prices.
I think the difficulty is deliberate on FB's part.

I agree Val. They want to show huge numbers in their membership. Elon Musk just backed out of his 42-Billion Twitter purchase because his group discovered there are millions of fake accounts, spam accounts, bot accounts, dead accounts, etc. on Twitter.
