Isabella's payments are on hold until she verifies her identity. She has done so at least 3 times already, including uploading her ID, sending all her info over and over again. I'm at my wit's end and they are holding almost $100.00 now. There is an option to fill out a w9 form, but how the hell is that more verifiable than her ID card that has her picture, address, birthday and is an official government document? Ridiculous...

Pantlandia - have you tried eBay on Facebook? I've been hearing this sorry story more than a few times on the forums - eBay isn't very good at the tech side of things, but there's no excuse for this.

Why not just go ahead and use the W9 option? They will need her SSN.

Why not just go ahead and use the W9 option? They will need her SSN. We are going to have to. I just think it's funny that I can literally write whatever I want on the W9, but her state issued government ID isn't good enough. She entered and uploaded everything MONTHS ago and has gotten payouts for almost a year. NOW they are saying they need all the info again, but then won't accept it. Oh well. She sells a good amount on Mercari too and they go the same info for her 1099 and accepted it right away. Going to print out the W9 for her now.

I just think it's funny that I can literally write whatever I want on the W9, but her state issued government ID isn't good enough. The big difference is that the IRS matches 1099s (any type) to Form 1040's that have been filed, and follows up with taxpayers who had 1099 income reported to the IRS but didn't include it on their personal tax return. Very few state issued IDs include the individual's SSN.
