I heard the other day that Corey Taylor from Slipknot & Stone Sour is auctioning off a BUNCH of his guitars, both electric & acoustic as a charity endeavor, on Ebay. 30 or 40 of them, signed, many used & some signed by Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters. All going to Covid-19 charities. Here's an example: www.ebay.com/itm/Corey-Taylor-Used-and-Signed-Ibanez-Electric-Guitar-Case/254576786720?hash=item3b45f57d20:g:LdoAAOSwHzheoJ11The really fascinating part is that Ebay is MATCHING the charitable donation! I wonder how he got them to do that? These are going to go for high prices, with many already in the $3000 range & 30-40 bids with 6 days left. I could easily see the matching part of the donation being $1M. While it's great for the charity, I sure am wondering how/why Ebay decided to match this particular set of auctions? Has anyone heard anything about the matching component of this? I don't see it referenced in the auctions.

I wish I had about $50k sitting around. Tanner would love one of those and I'd love to be wealthy enough to get him one

Ebay has matched on other celebrity auctions, but I don't remember who it was.

Oh wow, I had no idea, thanks for posting that! That explains it, as it was a surprising set of auctions for them to choose.

Interesting update, I am listening to Corey Taylor being interviewed on a metal show, right now & he said that Ebay APPROACHED HIM to auction off the guitars & kind of sold him on using Ebay (he had always intended to auction or sell the guitars for charity) by matching the donation to his charity.
I found it interesting that they were plugged into this. I would think Ebay would be more into Taylor Swift or some such poppy stuff.

I'm surprised, too. eBay just isn't that hip lol.
