Starting in May, eBay is introducing a couple of new store levels. While they aren't the store level that almost everyone who has a Premium store wants, one of the levels should be useful to some users in this forum. In addition to the new levels, some of the costs (additional fees, subscription charges) are also changing.
If you are wanting to know when you should change your store levels, this list should give you a good idea. A few things to note:
The formula used in each equation is simply:
CurrentStoreFee + ((AddedListings - IncludedListings) * AddListCost) = TotalFees
If TotalFees > NextLevelSubscription then Upgrade = Yes
MONTHLY TO MONTHLY
No Store to Starter Store = Upgrade at 73 Listings = $0.00 + ((73 - 50) * $0.35) = $8.05 (higher than starter store m2m fee)
Starter to Basic Store = Upgrade at 167 Listings = $7.95 + ((167 - 100) * $0.30) = $28.05 (higher than basic store m2m fee)
Basic to Premium Store = Upgrade at 438 Listings = $27.95 + ((438 - 250) * $0.25) = $74.95 (equal to premium store m2m fee)
Premium to Anchor Store = Upgrade at 3750 Listings = $74.95 + ((3750 - 1000) * $0.10 = $349.95 (equal to anchor store m2m fee)
Anchor Monthly cannot upgrade to Enterprise as Enterprise does not have a month-to-month subscription option
ANNUAL TO ANNUAL
No Store to Starter Store = Upgrade at 65 Listings = $0.00 + ((65 - 50) * $0.35) = $5.25 (higher than starter store fee)
Starter to Basic Store = Upgrade at 157 Listings = $4.95 + ((157 - 100) * $0.30) = $22.05 (higher than basic store fee)
Basic to Premium Store = Upgrade at 402 Listings = $21.95 + ((402 - 250) * $0.25) = $59.95 (equal to premium store fee)
Premium to Anchor Store = Upgrade at 3400 Listings = $59.95 + ((3400 - 1000) * $0.10 = $299.95 (equal to anchor store fee)
Anchor to Enterprise Store = Upgrade at 64,000 Listings = $299.95 + ((64,000 - 10,000) * $0.05 = $2999.95 (equal to enterprise store annual fee)
MONTHLY TO ANNUAL
No Store to Starter Store = Upgrade at 65 Listings = $0.00 + ((65 - 50) * $0.35) = $5.25 (higher than starter store annual fee)
Starter to Basic Store = Upgrade at 147 Listings = $7.95 + ((147 - 100) * $0.30) = $22.05 (higher than basic store annual fee)
Basic to Premium Store = Upgrade at 378 Listings = $27.95 + ((378 - 250) * $0.25) = $59.95 (equal to premium store annual fee)
Premium to Anchor Store = Upgrade at 3250 Listings = $74.95 + ((3250 - 1000) * $0.10 = $299.95 (equal to anchor store annual fee)
Anchor to Enterprise Store = Upgrade at 63,000 Listings = $349.95 + ((63,000 - 10,000) * $0.05 = $2999.95 (equal to enterprise store annual fee)
If you are wanting to know when you should change your store levels, this list should give you a good idea. A few things to note:
- These numbers are based on total number of Fixed Price listings you list per month, regardless of duration. For example: If you do 500 listings at 30 days, then that is 500 listings. If you list 200 listings at 10 days and relist, that is potentially 600 listings (200 x 3 total listings).
- These numbers are based on the assumption that the extra listings are being paid for and not just listed using promos. If you are a basic store and are able to list 500 a month without paying because you always get promos, then this information would only be handy if you stop getting promos.
- Just because the numbers say you should upgrade, your sales might not justify the added expense. If you don't think that you're going to make more than the store subscription fee then you shouldn't upgrade, but then again, you also shouldn't be listing enough and paying the additional listing fees either
- I did not include auctions in any calculations because they are limited categories. If you run a lot of auctions then these totals may not accurately reflect your needs.
The formula used in each equation is simply:
CurrentStoreFee + ((AddedListings - IncludedListings) * AddListCost) = TotalFees
If TotalFees > NextLevelSubscription then Upgrade = Yes
