I'm not sure how to describe this fabric. It's sheer, but not stiff as I would expect organza to be. I did a burn test with a couple of stray threads. They burned very quickly, with no melting. There wasn't enough to detect any odor. Does anyone have any information or opinions on age, fiber content, origin, value, or anything else? Thank you.

How large is the sham, not including the flange? The embroidery reminds me of Swiss machine embroidery but I would need to see a close up of a couple of the flowers to try to determine if it's machine or hand embroidered. I would estimate mid 20th century as the approximate date but could be 10 or 20 years earlier.

The opening for the pillow is 12 7/8" x 14 7/8". I'm fairly sure it's machine embroidered. Thanks.

That size is pretty typical for a "boudoir" pillow and that might be a good keyword for describing it. I enlarged an embroidery motif and think you are correct, it probably is machine work. As for current market value, I believe it is more desirable for it's decorative function than as a "collectible".
