We can have a custom page set up and have all new members go to that page after they're approved. We can use it to post a welcome board, with things like which boards are public vs private, link to the how to threads, etc. What do you think should go on it? It's html so unless our resident web designer would like to volunteer to do it (hint, hint?), it won't be set up before this weekend (earliest I can attempt it). But I do think it would be handy, what say all of you?

I think it would be very handy. Something that has perhaps a short list of: 1. any rules such as topic placement, language, respect, etc. 2. To message a moderator with any questions, concerns or technical difficulties
A brief overview of what the forum is about and an opportunity to post on a welcome/introduce yourself topic.

1st RULE: You do not talk about VIRTUAL SELLERS CLUB.
2nd RULE: You DO NOT talk about VIRTUAL SELLERS CLUB.
3rd RULE: If someone says "stop" or goes limp, taps out the fight is over.
...oops, wrong club.
Definitely have a brief (very brief) description of the group and a pointer to more detailed do's and don't's (if such a list exists somewhere). Maybe an encouragement to have people post intros?
ETA: Duh, I didn't mean to reiterate what Clean had already posted. Sometimes my fingers type faster than my brain works!

LOVE IT! I think it should be part of the "Club Rules" !! Who says you can't have fun and be professional too?

Something like that would have probably helped to avoid the cause of the TW on the other board. I'm still not sure why something like that wasn't implemented over there to tell how the board works...
Anyway, yes, it's a good idea.

Ya got me, Jeremy. It was suggested, oh, maybe 5-6 times on the TW, by a couple of people (not just by me). Whatever. I mean, if you don't tell people what's up, or what they can/can't do, how can you expect them to do what you need them to do? ***scratching head***

Who says you can't have fun and be professional too? I think this should be our slogan!

Yay! Ahrn has agreed to set up our new member welcome page. And unlike me, Ahrn knows what she's doing! Woo hoo!
