I have found that bringing home a new puppy is kinda like childbirth. You totally forget in between how much work goes into raising a puppy and how much time it takes. Just like you forget how hard it was carrying that baby for 9 months and then birthing it. Anyway she is here. Her name is Maggie or Mags for short. She is some sort of hound mix, not totally sure with what possible pit or boxer maybe. She is at the moment taking a forced nap in her kennel because she went bat shit crazy trying to get my older dog to play with her. (barking, nipping, growling ... pure puppy tantrum)

She is 11 weeks old. When I adopted her they kept saying she was 3 months old. I thought she looked really young for 3 months so I looked at her vet report, she was only 10 weeks when we got her.

She looks kinda like a puggle to me with those ears and the color. Remember to enjoy all the puppy stuff although it's really hard with the potty training and chewing! I wish I had taken more videos of my dog when he was a puppy. I have oodles of pics but hardly any videos. The videos I do have I just love to death!

OMG so stinking cute. Definitely looks like a little bit of labrador in there, mutts are the best. Make sure you keep up updated with lots of pictures. I live vicariously through everyone's puppies and kittens because I am so allergic to the little guys.

Awww puppy love. Such a sweet innocent face I never forget the middle of the night potty trips outside. That is why I'm pretty sure after this dog I will not ever get another one. I'm too old for those middle of the night potty runs in human or fur baby form LOL I was lucky our last one was not a chewer, she never chewed on anything but her toys like a good girl. The one before her though. UGH we lost a new lamps cord, table leg, edge of the couch, a couple of her beds, towels etc

Awww, he's adorable!
Peek, just adopt an older dog next time instead of a puppy. And from a foster. Then you know exactly what you're getting.

Thank you for all the positive comments. She is really cute but a total handful. I really wanted to find an older dog but we have 3 inside cats and our older dog. It is very hard to find a dog that gets along with everybody. At least with a puppy we can raise her to not attack or pester the cats. Maggie and our youngest cat (who is really still a kitten 9 months old) are trying to figure out how to play together. Maggie play bows him and he rolls on his back for her but then it gets to rough. Maggie has two claw swipes on her face from the kitten. She will learn. At least at this point they are about the same size. He is a really big cat. As for what breed I think she is a true Heinz 57. She definitely has some hound in her, and she also points so maybe some lab or other bird dog. Her head is huge so we think there is some pit bull or maybe boxer too. Maybe if I hit the lottery I will do a doggie DNA test.

We have 3 grandkids now (from SDD) but our dog now isn't too friendly with people that don't live here so she doesn't play with them much. If it's a holiday and everyone is around I usually have her in her crate, she doesn't like to be out when the house is full of people. If it's just the grands over she'll stay out but she doesn't hang out with them. She's not that social unfortunately and never has been. She won't even have much to do with oldest DS now that he's been moved out a couple of years. It's like she's disowned him and kicked him out of the pack. Never saw anything like it. She's always been strongest attached to me but he was her favorite of the kids when he was living at home she was always snuggled up with him and he'd take her out to play all the time. Then after he moved out and was gone a while she totally disowned him. Now he comes around and she will barely let him touch her. If he's lucky he will get to scratch her on the head or maybe give her a belly rub before he leaves after he's been here a few hours but that's about it.
Dh will be retired in five years or so and wants to do quite a bit of traveling so I figure going pet free after this one will be best. We've had to give up taking vacations since we got her because I can't leave her at a kennel, she's miserable just leaving her for a day when she has to be groomed and have her teeth cleaned etc. She just doesn't do well in a kennel environment and having someone else come here isn't an option since she doesn't do well with strangers, especially on our property, she's too protective. She's 5 now so we have several more years before we can take trips again, not really fair that the kids have to give up their vacations for their high school years but not much I can do about that. We have her so we'll deal with it. I have considered renting a pet friendly house in FL or some where and taking her with us since she likes to travel. That would be a very long car ride for her though and not sure how well she'd travel that far or how she'd like being in a strange place for a couple of weeks.

Awww, what a sweetheart! Totally agree with forgetting how much work puppies are. The first week is always the hardest. Trying to get them to sleep and potty trained and chasing them around the house because they have something they shouldn't. When my Emma Lou was a pup, she'd sleep on my chest. Now that she's a grown, snoring mastiff guess where she likes to sleep? Lol. She's on the small side about 100 pounds but I wake up quite often with her laying on me snoring away. At least my feet stay warm.

You might be crazy to take on a puppy - but it's such a cute one! Puppies are totally worth it if you have the time & I love mutts. It's a TON of work, but the rewards are awesome.
That being said... lol... & this is meant in just a general way for anybody reading. If you're not up for all the puppy work (I wasn't this last go round), don't be afraid to look for an older dog.
I adopted my current two dogs as adults & they are fantastic! They got along with my elderly dog before she passed & are fine with our 3 cats, kids, etc. I was fortunate that we have a good animal shelter & rescues in the area, who worked with me & even let me foster before adopting.
You know you will have to keep posting update pics now - right?
