Every year around this time, the Missy family participates in the Battle of the Beds. It is getting a little chilly in the early morning hours so I have been getting out the cat beds for them. And the games begin. Each cat tries to claim their own bed even though there are no names on them. Yogi is the biggest cat of them all and he chose the smallest bed of those out so far. I think it is location more than comfort. This afternoon Yogi left his bed to have a crunch and a drink and when he came back, Tanji had taken his bed. Did he go find another one? No, this one is his and Yogi isn't giving up on it just yet. Neither is Tanji.

Are you sure that's a cat bed and not a cat pillow? Too funny, thanks for sharing that!

Tanji was super annoyed because he couldn't lay his head down like it was before Yogi inserted his big self into the head laying down space.

I think he's even more annoyed because Yogi looks content. He has that "seriously?" look on his face.

Lucy moves in on the bed when Yogi and Tanji head to the living room to check out a hissing contest between Dori and Gracie.

This morning Dori had claimed the bed with Yogi hoping that his pouting would motivate her to give him the bed. When pouting doesn't work, he tries to stare her into moving.

I don't get the fascination with this bed when I don't think it is the best one out there. Gracie has no trouble claiming the best bed while the others cycle in and out of the blue one.

It must be the location of the blue one.
Gracie is the smart one, she just goes for comfort and lets the other ones fight it out.

Gracie's bed in on a chair that is right next to the couch that the blue bed is on.
They are both right next to the den windows about 6' apart.
Nobody messes with Gracie so she pretty much gets whatever she wants anyway.

The appeal of the blue bed: 1) It's exactly cat-sized 2) It's in the corner of the couch so has two nice security walls/draft stoppers behind it.

I love watching the drama unfold over sleeping locations... and I only have a cat and a dog jockeying for position. It must be a soap opera with so many kitties involved.

Tanji, the bed bandit, has now moved on to the better bed that belongs to Gracie. and it didn't go unnoticed. Gracie throws the evil eye and wishes her arm was just a little longer or the chair was just a little closer.

Tanji is one brave kitty to risk the wrath of Gracie.

Tanji tends to play the "3 legged handicapped" cat card when things get dicey.
Seems to work for him actually.

Is that a big orange fluffy tail I see? How gorgeous.
At my house:
Bubby will sleep only where Lydia has slept Lydia will sleep only where Bubby or Kewpie has slept Kewpie won't sleep where anyone else has slept Lamington will sleep in anyone's spot but no one will sleep in his (he must be stinky) And no one will sleep in one spot for more than a week.
So I don't have cat beds or igloos anymore.

How's the Cat Bed Shuffle going this morning Kritter?
Did Yogi ever get his little blue bed back?
And is Tanji still playing the handicat card to get what he wants?

Aggie does the sleeping spot shuffle. Each new spot is occupied for about a week (I figure that's long enough to fur it up) and then she moves on.
Once a used spot is vacuumed, it may again be used for sleeping, but usually not for several months.
The exception is this "Cat Mat" we have - it's a furry mat with some kind of crinkly stuff inside. It's like a magic lure - if I bring it out, she is compelled to sit on it. Phyos would also like to sit on it, but Aggie won't allow it. I occasionally wash it, which serves to strengthen it's magic lure.
Phyos current spot is part way down the stairs, right at about head height as you pass by below. Then the paw snakes out to catch your hair as you go by. It is unacceptable to pet or acknowledge him in any way while he is the Stair Guardian.
Cats.

And the Bed Battle continues... Lucy grabbed the bed first thing this morning but Yogi was lurking above. Daisy, Lucy's BFF, came to the "I have your back" rescue.

Daisy can't hang around forever and it wasn't long before Yogi started to creep back in.
