That's great news. I think everyone getting some rest helped. Let all of the tension die down and get a fresh start. You may not see her true personality come out for a few days though. I know with a stray corgi we had show up one day he was the perfect dog for the first couple of days while we looked for his owners until he adjusted to being here. Then he was definitely anything but perfect and kind of made it clear why his owners weren't looking for him. Have seen it with other dogs too, which is why many dogs get returned to the pound after a week or so, they sometimes aren't the same dog after a few days of being in a place. Hopefully that isn't the case since she's coming from a good home. You might see the tension between the dogs get stirred back up then too.
Keep us updated, hope Oscar has a new life long buddy.

She's GORGEOUS! Hope it works out for you! Yes, I've heard, especially with rescues, that it can take a few weeks for their true personality to show as they get adjusted to their new surroundings. However, coming from a home,(& not a bad situation) hopefully it won't take as long. Both of mine were adopted as adults separately a year apart & turned out fine. I think it is just the female nature to put the boys in their place sometimes, lol! Plus she's uneasy & not feeling secure - but it sounds like she's starting to settle in quickly

THEY PLAYED TOGETHER LAST NIGHT! As in, they went into the back yard and chased each other and "wrestled" in a fun, doggy way (no growling, no teeth showing). I think because she was an "only child" for the first 2 years of her life, and they did basic training with her, it has helped. This last year she has been shuffled around, and befriended her parents dog when she stayed with them. They said it was a little aggression the first couple of days, but they soon became best friends. She's a cuddler. She loves laying her head on your lap. She hasn't had an accident, chewed anything she shouldn't (she found a bird feather in the back yard she tried to eat--but she's a setter, so I guess that appeals to her?!?) She has made herself right at home in our house. Most importantly, Oscar really is warming up to her. I think he will enjoy having a "friend" around the house. Here are some pics from the last 2 days

Beautiful! I like to try to get mine directly from a family or foster. Good luck! Get her chipped and vetted, of course.

She sure is a beautiful dog. They are very friendly. Wishing you lots of love and joy from her.
I lost one of my dogs this summer and I can tell that Bubba is lonely.

I love how kids and dogs are sprawled all over the furniture That's my kind of house. I used to not be this forgiving with animals on the furniture. But the older I get, the more I realized I'm more comfortable with having everyone comfortable and loving than having a "nice, pristine couch" . Things are still going well. They're happy with each other. We will have to work on "dinner time" though. She's a HOG and eats super fast like someone is going to steal her food---and she has no problem scarfing up his food too. But we will figure it all out.

Hmm you could try feeding them in separate rooms. Or maybe try buying her one of the feeding bowls designed to slow her down. They have center piece on them that makes it harder for the dog to get to the food. It's made so they can't chow down so fast. Then while she's working at her food he can finish his food. Makes it better for her tummy to eat it slower too. Can't remember what they are called but I know they aren't that expensive.
I let my dog on the furniture too. Figure if anyone doesn't like it, they are free to stay away. She lives here, they don't. She deserves to be comfy just as much as we do.

She is precious! Hope she has found a forever home with you guys. Sounds like she has had a rough past year. If you want to sit on the furniture here, you gotta move a dog. We have three, two of them are over 100 pounds and one is 35 pounds. The smallest takes up more room than the larger ones. I figure that if I wear something that doesn't have dog hair on it, it's new. Every night when we sit down to watch TV, my DH, the dogs and I all snuggle up together. Makes my heart smile. Drives my parents crazy that the dogs are allowed on the furniture.

Seems like they're besties now Yes, she will be staying with us forever! Need to make her a vet appt and get her chipped. She's UTD on all shots/vet appointments. Her owners provided everything. Tons of her food, toys, treats, bed, leash, collar, crate, etc.

It's sad for the old owners but at least they'll know it worked out the best way possible, that she gets to live with nice people and a nice Oscar.

It's great that her previous owners cared enough about her to find her a good home rather than dumping her at a shelter or something. She's a lucky girl.

I agree, Bliss. I keep thinking of those stinkers with the "allergies" who dumped their declawed cats, not caring if they were just let loose to fend for themselves.
