I just started watching Hannibal. It's a bit gory. I hadn't realized that it's in its third season. Went to watch with On Demand and Comcast charges for the earlier seasons. Bastards. But Amazon has them free for Prime members.

As older favorite series have ended, I find myself replacing them with lighter fluffier fare. If I have a couple of hours to sit in a darkened theater and pay attention, then I'm all about drama and thrillers. No gore. But at home I watch a lot of the Food Network and shows like Project Runway, Top Chef and the Little Couple (LOVE them). Scandal, True Detective (SO disappointing this last go 'round), maybe one or two other shows, I record and binge watch when I'm the only one home (or at least have the family room to myself) and not trying to multi-task. I'm finding the same thing with Direct TV On Demand Titus. Most of the time I'm only looking to watch a few episodes that aren't too old and I can gett what I want. But where at one time I could go back and watch a previous season of something, all episodes, I can't always do that anymore. Or the episodes will be broken up. I can watch 5 out of 10 because the rest are on Hulu.

I was so hung up on Netflix I just realized that I can get Pandora, HBO go, Hulu plus, a few sports aps and several other things with my Chromecast. I've got Pandora on my TV, it's a good day. That was the best $35 I've spent in a long time

I just saw Jersey Boys. If you were/are a fan of the Four Seasons you might enjoy this. I will say that it was great to hear their old hits and the actors are better looking than the originals.

Ooo, there's a new movie coming out next month called Suffragette about the early days of the women's suffrage movement in England. The cast looks great though I don't know why Meryl Streep is playing Mrs. Pankhurst. I like Meryl Streep but, come on, were there no older English actresses suitable for the part?

Titus - where are you getting Jersey Boys from Netflix? What does that cost.

Roy, yes, I got it from Netflix as a DVD.
They have all sorts of plans available, DVDs and/or streaming. I tried streaming, they gave me a month free, but it was more troublesome than it was worth. So I stick to the DVDs. And the monthly fee ranges from $4.99 for two DVDs per month to $15.99 per month for unlimited, three at a time DVD rental. It's so easy, you get them in the mail, take as long as you like to watch them then send them back in the mail in the postage paid envelope.
Check it out. I believe they offer a one month free trial membership. www.netflix.com

or you could get a Chromecast streaming stick and plug it into one the HDMI ports on your TV and voila you can have any pick you want at any time. It costs $10.00 (for Nexflix, they might have a cheaper plan) a month and works seamlessly. You have to have wifi in order for it to work though.

www.imdb.com/title/tt3077214/?ref_=nv_wl_img_1 There's no Australian release date! I don't know what that means - whether it'll only be shown in independents, or maybe not at all. Looks like the dvd for me. Meryl Streep has her moments but I wish they'd stop letting her be in whatever she wants. Especially since, as you say, there'd be plenty of English actors to fill the spot. And be extremely grateful for it.

I forgot to add that for the Chromecast you need an android, iphone or tablet in order to be able to cast/pause/rewind/fastforward your shows.

I forgot to add that for the Chromecast you need an android, iphone or tablet in order to be able to cast/pause/rewind/fastforward your shows. Seriously? That's ridiculous. The Chromecast costs $35.00 but in order to use it one must have a TV with the ports. Okay, so someone buys the TV. But then they need to lay out more money for another gadget to use it? I'll stick with Netflix and an cheapo pay as you go cellphone.

Well Titus clearly it won't work for everyone but it's perfect for those who already have a tv with ports, tablet and or smart phone. I'm sure people know what they need before they shell out $35 to buy it.

Sorry Bliss, I didn't mean to offend you.
I was commenting on the cost of it all. If one doesn't have a TV with the ports a new TV must be purchased. Then the added expense of an iPhone, Android, etc. And, if I remember correctly, many of the channels available with Chromecast or Amazon Fire Stick also charge monthly subscription fees if you want to watch most of their programming. I know Hulu charges.

If someone doesn't have any of those things then it's not an option, I don't see anything ridiculous about it. It is what it is. I heard that you get charged for some Chanel's with Hulu too, no extra charges with chromecast as you're really not getting any Chanel's. I tried hbo go the other night which was cool. I pay for hbo with direct tv. I'm thinking of canceling hbo with dtv but I assume if I do then I won't be able to get hbo go with chromecast. Need to check into it.

There is plain Hulu which has older shows and movies for free.
I have Hulu Plus and it's only $7.99 a month. Which is totally worth it to me cause I can watch a ton of stuff and have over 50 shows in my cue right now.

I'm cheap. I only have CBS All Access. And I may drop it tomorrow (free trial is up Friday). They advertised "seasons 1-3 of Nash Bridges". Signed up, their "Season 1" started with episode 3. WTH? Then has episode 4, followed by episode 11. Found out I CAN get all of season one on the Amazon TV thingie, if I get Prime. Which I don't want. So maybe I'll just spring for used DVD.

Since my diagnosis, I've watched more TV than in the past - or I should say DVDs, as we don't have cable, only the digital networks - so there isn't much to watch on TV at our house.
Some series I've watched are Call the Midwife, The Gilmore Girls, The Land Girls, Downton Abbey, and Lark Rise to Candleford, which I'm almost finished with.
I'm on the lookout for another series to watch and as you can see, I really like BBC shows. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears! I don't know you may want to try Luther it's on Netflix. I've heard it's really good. It's BBC I think. The main actor is not bad on the eyes either. He was on The Wire but I always forget his name. Loved him on the wire which is one my all time favorites!

That's him I can never remember that name! Yeah I read that on the purse forum about the James Bond thing. I am addicted to the celebrity threads section on TPF it's all I read on that site. He has a pretty long thread over with some nice photos!

He would be a great James Bond! He's got that ruthless edge to him that makes the better Bonds stand out. Well, in Luther he has.

I'm currently watching The War by Ken Burns about WWII. It must be Ken Burns month on PBS since one station is airing The Civil War and another The War. Since I missed the early episodes on PBS I'm watching on Amazon. Very interesting and horrifying too. My dad didn't talk too much about his war experiences except to say he was seasick the entire voyage to Europe and to complain the Europe was dirty when we said we wanted to travel and see Europe.
