I guess we are getting to much rain for my lettuce. Just cut a bunch more for my huge dinner salad, and it isn't looking good anymore. This will be the first year ever that I have actually run out of lettuce.
Guess I should try to plant some more, but it might be too hot now.

I may not like the heat, but my tomatoes seem to be loving it.
We moved the pots around in the yard several times and finally found a spot that they really like. Tons of blossoms and I need to pick a bunch of the lemon pear cherry ones today. Plan on having them in a salad for lunch.
My Cherokee Purple has 2 tomatoes that are getting nice and big plus lots of blossoms for more.
Fresh garden tomatoes are one of the best things of summer for me.

It's been so cold here that I just set the one tomato plant out the other day. But it's been good for lettuce. I'm keeping the lettuce in pots on the porch and if there's a hot day I'll bring them into the house just to keep them going a bit longer.
Beets are doing fine--yum--but I wish they'd hurry up so we can eat some.

Grrrr-just found powdery mildew on some squash leaves. The zucs seem to have white on their leaves evenly, so maybe that is the way they are supposed to look. But powder on other leaves, especially on the yellow squash. I cut off those leaves and tossed them. And I just sprayed the rest of the leaves with a mixture of baking soda and water, and also found a site that says to use milk. I def need a bigger sprayer since it is a PITA to use my little quart sprayer.
Always a battle to get my veggies!!!

I'm glad I posted about my pods earlier, b/c I have to say the one disadvantage is no plant tags. What I was thinking was cucumber is actually zucchini (which I like better, so yeah!) and I got the spinach and basil mixed up too until they came in a little more. Spinach was not enough for even one little salad, so not worth it to buy in pod form again, but was easy to grow so I may do seeds next year. Trying to plant the zucchini and tomato in the same pot is looking to be a bad idea too - zucchini is doing great, tomato has only one small cluster of flowers so far. Catnip is coming in, but being nibbled before it is allowed to get too big.

Harvested my first yellow squash today and sauteed it with my own green onions...yum. Have tons more growing....if I can stay ahead of the powdery mildew.
I bought a gallon sprayer from WM yesterday, but I didn't tighten something right since it isn't spraying very well. When my computer guy stops in soon, I will ask him.
Green beans look good and I have teeny cukes.
Starting to get Japanese beetles and I found the best thing to do is to put water and dish detergent into a jar and just flick them into the jar.

Just took these pics....first one shows the green beans, then peppers, cukes, tomatoes. Second pic shows the squash...I had just sprayed them with milk/water to ward of powdery mildew. That is why they have white stuff on them.

But...But.. where is the asparagus? ? Great looking garden, denise. Did you start from seeds or from little plants?

The asparagus fed tons of people....well..me.
The beans were from seeds...the rest were plants.

The squash looks great. Keep that powdery mildew AWAY! One time I had so many summer squash that I invented a recipe (and I hate to cook) but I sliced the squash, tomatoes, added some herbs and threw cheese all over the top. They I baked it. WOW. It was actually good.
Now I don't have much space but I did pick the first two beets today. They are cooking right now. I use bone meal when I plant them to sweeten the soil (and to sweeten the beets.)
My teeny tomato plant has two flowers. Go, tomato plant!!!

I never did grow beets since they are so messy.
Good luck to your tomatoes! I have teeny green ones.
My squash casseroles get too watery. If I am blessed with a lot this year, I will just roast them. Easiest of all!

Easiest of all! Roasted squash sounds great. Thanks for the tomato wishes--you have green ones? Not too long then. Beets aren't messy! You mean in the garden? Or when you cook them?

When I cook anything, I make a mess. Why limit myself to just beet messes?

Oh, I always make a mess in the kitchen. Beets are about the least messy because after I boil them I peel them over the sink. and that is all.
Warmer, almost hot weather is finally predicted here. Go----tomatoes. I just loaded everything with fresh compost so the results should occur once it rains and gets watered in.

My zucchini seemd to have the problem again this year that the blooms fell off and thus no zuc. Has to do with all male plants or something. Same old same old.

Your asparagus ate the zucchini babies.

nom nom nom....just picked my first 6" cuke and gobbled it up....and 2nd and 3rd 7" yellow squash. (so I have the asparagus beat already by one squash).
Looks like I will have a dozen 6" squash in a few days....this is the best they have ever done. Was going to spray with milk again since it rained, but it will rain again tonight.
Might just do it anyway, and take my chances.

Poor sad garden. Neglected it for a week since my chemo made me too sick to mess with it.
Just went up and tossed tons of split cherry tomatoes. Did have a zuc that was 8 inches, but forgot to look for it.
Have about 6 butternut squash and a lot of broc shoots. 2 whole banana peppers.
MILLIONS of weeds. So will have to get up there soon and weed around the kale that still looks good.
Next year, I will do better....

Can you plant fall veggies where you live?

We won't have much of a fall growing season.
I still have onions that I can plant, if I can pull enough weeds to find a place to plant them.
I could have planted cold weather stuff maybe a month or so ago, but too lazy.
