OK, just for kicks, I ran a Progressive Snapchat quote request using what Denise has covered and my Basic quote for 6 months was $283, the Choice level quote was $577, and the Recommended Level was $694. The basic quote was practically nothing coverage. Even the Choice level had less coverage for more money my GEICO package. Definitely not worth the hassle.
Apparently it must consider the vehicle and probably the zip code where the vehicle lives along with driving record etc. plus minimum state coverage and the demographics of the driver. I am sure that it tracks the drivers and what they are doing.
I wasn't considering it but just got my curiosity going while I was planting my Salvia in the front beds. I see another trip to Lowes next week as I need more plants.

I read that it does track you and some woman parked in a liquor store parking lot next to a gym and somehow it got recorded as going to the liquor store. A bad thing to them I guess. All kinds of crazy stories reported in online forums about this apparatus. It says to not brake for yellow lights, braking seems to be their biggest concern. That makes sense - sudden breaking increases chances of rear-end collisions. But seems to me braking for a yellow light wouldn't be an issue unless it's sudden breaking. Apparently it must consider the vehicle and probably the zip code where the vehicle lives along with driving record etc. plus minimum state coverage and the demographics of the driver. I am sure that it tracks the drivers and what they are doing. Zip code does matter. I just got quotes from AARP/Hartford and Geico. Once I set all the data the same on both polices to what I have now, there is no real cost difference The real difference was when I used the address of the apartments in Kritter's area that I'm considering moving to. Auto went down by $22 a month.

The duplex across the street is still vacant.

I take back what I posted earlier. AARP has lower rates for zip code 78209, but USAA's quote was higher. It's a total racket.
I'm debating if I want to return my new computer. It was an open box deal, works fine now that Best Buy fixed the software issue. But the fan is really loud a lot of the time - easily triple the noise of my other desktop.

Val-my quote includes my discount since I opted for the device. If I opt out of the test, my rate will go up.
Kritter-your vehicle is worth a lot more than mine is. And it is prettier!
My agent warned about sudden braking, which I seldom do. Like my daughter says-I drive like a little old lady...which I am.
Since it is on my cell, it is really no big deal. My jaunt outside into my driveway didn't register.

It is also very handy when I need to bring things home from Val's apartment that she doesn't want anymore and I do want them.
And there is always the mulch hauling factor to take into consideration. I didn't realize how much I missed having a truck until I got this one.

Apparently they charge a "fixed" variable rate until they have actual driving/mileage history on me. Since the website says nothing about refunding me those first couple of months variable rates, I'm not interested. Geez, I don't even put 500 miles per month on the stupid car.

My truck is 2 years old this month and has 2,067 miles on it. I am centrally located to every place that I need to go.

And if Val moves across from Kritter, you two can car-pool.

The duplex across the street is still vacant. Have they put it up for rent or sale yet? I didn't see either option on the zillow listing.

I have Toyota app on my phone. I have opted not to share it with insurance companies. I know what you mean about braking. I can be going along and the red warning comes up and it applies the brakes. I know my stopping distance and have plenty of time. I can see the car is starting to move. I usually score about a 96 or so anyway.

ooohhh, that's a great space, val--move now! Can't. I have a lease that lasts thru Jan 31, 2025. Kritter, they raised the rent $300. I was expecting a larger price hike. They should have cleaned up the patio/courtyard though before they took the picture. Unless she's using the old pre-renovation pics from prior listings.

Well, then if someone else moves there, kritter will just have to haunt them until they move out.

I could probably rent it until January and tell them I am doing renovations on my house and can't live there while they are working on it. It would be very handy IF I was going to do renovations.

LOL! Nice thought. But I really don't want to pay that much in rent. I could buy a really nice house for that monthly payment.

That's what I was wondering-that sure is a lot of money per month! That would take 2 of my SS payments.

This part of town is not known for cheap rent or property values. The VACANT lot two spaces down from that duplex location just sold for a little over $300,000. Just a standard size lot. In fact, it is smaller than my lot size.

That's what I was wondering-that sure is a lot of money per month! That would take 2 of my SS payments. My SS payment doesn't cover 100% rent here. Or any other city where I might want to live. Rents are outrageous everywhere except maybe in the sticks but then you have no services. That's why I still work. Good thing I like what I do
