My neighbor always does curbside. About an hour before she was scheduled to pick up her order yesterday afternoon, an HEB employee called her and asked if she could pick up her order early and also asked her if she needed anything else that was not on the list. My neighbor asked if they could check the Simple Meals area to see if there were any turkey and mashed potato Simple Meals left. The employee said "No problem" and the two meals were included in the order when she picked it up.
My neighbor said that yesterday must have been a record day for curbside pickup as cars were everywhere in the pickup area.

My neighbor said that yesterday must have been a record day for curbside pickup as cars were everywhere in the pickup area. I picked my order up close to 8:00 last night and there were other folks doing the same. The parking lot was fairly full too. The employee I talked to was so cute. She was worried my missing items were critical for Thanksgiving dinner and told her no, they weren't. I said all the Thanksgiving stuff was in the bags, not to worry. She sighed and said oh good. Makes me wonder if there were a few other mistakes last night, or customers were leaving bags in their carts when they loaded up their car. Carrots tossed with orange vanilla balsamic vinegar and blood orange olive oil are in the slow cooker. They smell good, even though they haven't started cooking yet. I'm goofing off drinking hot tea and listening to a surprisingly funny audiobook. I don't know why I'm surprised it's funny, it's a new series by Janet Evanovich and her books are usually amusing.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! allikat - I hope you and the BF had fun on the Turkey Trot. Everyone seemed to have a blast on ours - the event filled up - there were probably a thousand participants in the 5k and 10k - this is for a race run on fairly quiet suburban roads and is mostly a local event, so that was a lot of people! It was in the 30s at the start, with a chilly wind but we all warmed up. My running friend and I placed 2nd in our respective age groups and won a pie! The 5k participants had some of the coolest costumes as well as funny hats - we all ran together on the first lap so I got to enjoy a lot of them. We're having Thanksgiving feast at some of my cousins' house just north of here. Due to the large size of our family we always have a potluck, with the host cooking the turkey - everyone brings their best dish. We'll have 22 this year which is a bit of a relief - sometimes we have 40 people and everyone is cooking and baking their hearts out to have enough food. ETA: Val - those carrots sound delicious. I'm happy with the Teriyaki balsamic and lemon ginger olive oil I got from Saratoga - the DH and I both appreciate your recommendation! The Teriyaki really helps me with this danged low sodium diet i'm struggling with.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We had an uneventful dinner (thankful!) and everyone left fairly soon afterwards (really thankful!) I started a sale for this weekend and have sold 5 things already! (YAY!!!)
On the down side, my favorite uncle had a stroke last week, but fortunately he was at the doctors when it happened so he got immediate care. Just talked to him and my cousin. He's going to be in the hospital for a while and then rehab and he is NOT happy! But that's just him. Praying that he will recover and doesn't give the nurses too hard of a time.

Wow sunsetpainter - your poor uncle and yes, he was lucky! Well, tell him to be good to those helping him - if he's your favourite uncle you are probably his favourite niece and will listen to you. I hope he recovers quickly! I had a favourite uncle, too.

For those of you who like to shop at Land's End, today they're offering 60% off of everything and free shipping with no minimum. Promo code FRIDAY. I'm addicted to their Sleep-Tee nightgowns. Seems like every time they have a sale, I have to order a couple more!

Thanks for posting that Tabby - I need a few more turtlenecks for winter. Lands' End TN tops last forever and fit well.
Thanks for posting about Rakuten Kritter - I've been using BeFrugal and they don't have cash back on Lands' End - just on the business products section.

I have been using Rakuten more and more on different sites as they seem to have better cash back that BeFrugal.

The outside decorating was postponed until midweek. The inside is such a disaster I HAVE to get it done and tidied up this weekend or we'll all go nuts - me and the cats. I have a few areas finished, they look pretty good. Did you know white poinsettias and boxwood stems make a nice arrangement? Good lord. I'm starting to channel Martha Stewart

sunsetpainter, just wanted to clarify I "liked" your last post about your sales, not about your uncle and hope he recovers fully.
Mom used to laugh because I can't stand Martha Stewart and told her so in I guess funny way every time she mentioned that name.
Yesterday was the easiest 4 hour pay. Place was closed, but security works 24/7, 365 days a year. Still had a few trucks pull in, only one turned around asap that noticed my Cube was the only vehicle anywhere and the gates were closed. Light traffic at 9am when I left for work and a lot crazier busy on the way home so couldn't wait to get there and hibernate.
I'm happy to say my 2 day Priority package in limbo in GA finally got delivered today after 7 days. I'm just happy to get it. Among the stuff I bought is a new in box kitchen torch that retails for $59 I paid $3 and change at a GW. Can't wait to try it out.

Hi guys. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Ours was quiet and nice, and everything came out great. I messed myself up though, ugh. The day before Thanksgiving I sprained my big toe It was the stupidest thing ever. I went to peek out the window to see if the mail came and when I turned back around I tripped on an electrical cord and fell down! Essentially I landed on my hands and knees but I think I was trying to untangle my right foot as I was going down (It happened pretty fast) and my right foot landed toe first and then twisted. It looks pretty ugly, a bit swollen and very bruised. And of course the day before Thanksgiving with so much to do! I iced it a long while several times then taped it to the next toe, as it said online. It's doing ok considering all the walking/and standing I've been doing between cooking and cleaning Thanksgiving and Black Friday at the thrift and then continued Black Friday today at a second thrift. I take breaks when I get home and elevate it. I never even knew there was such a thing! And I can only wear my Crocs because everything else squishes it. It's been in the 40s in the mornings, thank goodness my niece knitted me some wool socks, they actually keep my feet perfectly warm in the Crocs, holes and all lol.
Janey had her annual vet exam today. She got her rabies and Bordatella and DHL -PP (including Lepto) and she seems to be feeling a bit under the weather, poor thing. She still has an appetite and hopefully will be feeling better tomorrow.

OUCH!! (Jes and Jes's toe). Hope it recovers soon - big toes are kind of necessary.
The Huskies won the Apple Cup JUST AS THE CLOCK RAN OUT. I didn't go to see the game because I was put off last year by the Cougar fans drinking so much alcohol in the stands (I understand being 19, but I don't need to relive being around drunken kids a second time - already did it the first time). Turns out they acted a lot better with the game being in the afternoon and all, so I'm sorry I missed it.
They fought bitterly during the fourth quarter, with the WSU Cougs desperate to win the game and the Huskies having some bad luck - it finally tied 21-21 (yes, the defence was that good) with the Cougs playing stellar football, when the Huskies made a completely unexpected play to move the ball down the field around the Cougs - the only people expecting it were the Huskies - the Cougs were blindsided, and at 5 seconds to go the Huskies went for a field goal over it went at the buzzer. Oh GAWD. The DH said the guy sitting behind him asked if he was still alive lol.
The stadium was over-packed with extra tickets sold and standing room. I was following the game from time to time at home.

Wow! That *is* amazing, particularly that still of the field filled with people. Husky stadium holds 70,000 but they had packed in a couple of thousand more. It's wild when everyone runs onto the field - that happened at the Oregon game and once down there, they started some kind of rave. 110,000 though - that's massive.
When the DH watches the game at home he does it in his office (we don't really get TV reception, so he watches it on his computer). He closes the door because he's so noisy - he has this clapper (two plastic hands that slap together when you bounce it up and down, in Husky colours, natch) and it makes this loud rattling noise when he gets it going. He roars so loud you can hear him outside - he lost his voice one game lol. I just about jump out of my shoes when he suddenly starts up. It's so odd because he's this normally rather button-down mathmetician but he has a manic side which he says is from being Slavic, but he really gets going lol. We both do when we're at games, though.

LOL @ the clapper. I remember when those were the "in" thing and everywhere. Your DH sounds even more hyper than my BIL. He toned down when he was up here ranting about the MI coach, the Penn State game (forget who they were playing) and when his voice kept getting louder and he got more animated, I think he realized everyone was trying to hold back laughter and toned down. Previous "performances" has been yelling at the t.v., face getting beet red, slightly jumping up, fists clenched, edging butt towards edge of chair like getting closer would get someone at the game to hear him. Unknown if he has any "props" at home. You'd think he'd bet his house or massive bank accounts by how intense he gets.
