Smokey is sooooo adorable, labby! Weren't you also getting a bonded pair? Critter is not yet trapped but he did take the canned food from the trap and move it up to just inside the opening in the ceiling. I can see it there. Smart critter. And of course, critter guy did not come by today to rebait the trap. Maybe the critter will get hungry enough by Monday that it goes after the cheese puffs. Although if it pulled the can out without triggering the trap door, it would probably do the same with the cheese puff. Whatever. I'm having a good 3 day weekend anyway Any one doing anything fun for the holiday weekend?

Val we are meeting the bonded pair tomorrow morning. A bit nervous but if we do it all this weekend it will be a once and done with adjusting. We have to figure out feeding and that kind of stuff. 7 dogs requires some planning🤣.
I moved my briefcases and totes into my office and we are going to set up the crates in a room with linoleum flooring. It is a larger room so the crates won’t be as cramped. Trying to figure out whether we are going to add one more crate or make do with what we have. His sister has one we can borrow.

Smokey's such a cutie pie! I hope the bonded pair will also be great additions to the family. Can't imagine having to deal with all those "land mines", lol.

We are seeing how it goes with the bonded pair. Working out the logistics of feeding, pottying etc. They are great dogs. My dogs are ok except Gunner who has to adjust to them. It will take a bit.

What is a bonded pair? Would you buy those along with Smokey?

Animals, like people, get attached to other animals. Usually it's two kittens/puppies etc that grew up together but not always. You split them up, they're mourn the other just like people do, and won't do well at all in separate households. So why do that if you can find a home that will take both of them?

Our cats were a bonded pair - they were sisters from the same litter, but they had also bonded to the point where they slept together and licked each other their entire lives, organised the front yard as a pair, and were also company for each other when we were gone. Once I caught them trying to figure out how to flush the toilet. Little Cassie the tux was sitting on the toilet seat and tall Jamie furry butt was reaching up with one paw and trying to pull the lever. Cassie would meow and Jamie would try again, and again, sometimes with Cassie banging on the lever. I was very glad that Jamie, who was quite strong for being such a wisp, never figured it out, or we would have had to lock the bathroom doors lol.
We'd like to adopt another bonded pair when it comes time.

Simon and Twila are bonded. While Twila might be OK if something happened to Simon, Simon would be totally devastated if Twila were gone. They aren't from the same litter - Simon is about a year older than Twila - but they've bonded since they've been here with me. They hit it off as soon as Twila walked out of the cat carrier

I need some sleep. Besides that, I am hanging in there. Smokey got me up a few times over night.
Settling in this morning. Played Chuckit for a bit with the newbies. Chuckit is a manual ball thrower.
Shadow and Joker tag teamed on getting a small bird this morning. Shadow is a hunting dog. Shadow caught it and Joker ate it😩

Is Shadow one of the newbies?

Yes. Shadow and Ashley are the bonded pair. We did not like their given names. Going to see how it goes. Going to try walking them in our yard with Gunner.

Is Ashley the only female in the whole group? Not crazy about the "people" name, either. At least you know Shadow and Joker get along, though probably not the way you were hoping.

Good luck Labby!
It has been so nice here for the last few weeks. In the mid 70's with cool nights. We do need rain though.
I was able to get all of my planting done...flowers and veggies. And I even cleaned out my shed yesterday!! Lots of work, but I hate the thought of spiders falling on my head. And my tractor is happy in clean digs.
And today I finally finished raking pine twigs and pine cones. Probably hauled 30 wheelbarrows full across the road.
Now I have no excuse not to get back into listing.

labbypaws, thinking "Ash" might work. Shadow and Ash are kinda cool names for the pair.
I remember the yellow lab we had. AKC line a mile long, pics of a few distant relatives in a lab book, but dumb as rocks because the rich family that got him never did anything with him. My Mom cleaned their house and when our German Shepherd died, they couldn't wait to give him to her. Full grown male lab and peed like a girl. He did learn how when the male neighborhood dogs came around. First time, he didn't raise his leg high enough and peed on his other leg. Second time he raised it too high and almost fell over. Third time was a charm. He was also a sloppy eater.

These two are sloppy drinkers. And they whine like smoke detectors🤣. Things are settling down a bit. Working on getting Gunner adjusted.
Ashley & Shadow are exactly alike. Almost to the point of synchronization.
Gunner decided he was going to plant his butt on the ground when we were going to do some exposure between him and the other 2. But we did get them fitted into easy walk harnesses and got to see how they walk together.
