Good morning, everyone! Another "unlike February" week of above normal temps and no white stuff anywhere (it's a 4 letter word to me this time of year), which makes it quite odd. No complaints unless temps dip below 0, which won't be happening this week until Friday. Looking forward to my Valentine's Day present, a new office chair mat, per my request. DH got me a cheap one years ago that's finally cracking in places. Hope everyone has a fun-tastic week!

Warm day on tap today - 67. Tomorrow and Wednesday we'll be in the low 70's, then it looks like another cold front comes in and we'll be in the 50's thru the weekend. Nothing like roller coaster weather, eh? I don't even want to think what this means for the summer. Ugh. I also have a water drip in the kitchen, from the ceiling light fixture. I have no idea what's causing that but I turned in a work order. Along with 4 other work orders. Sigh. We're trying to set up up our workflow software at work. To do this, we need to know the steps involved in HOW client work is done. That way, we can decide if something like monthly bookkeeping should be one big task with lots of steps, or if it should be broken into 2 or 3 tasks (1-download files, 2-do bank rec, 3-file docs). We asked all staff to take 1-2 clients and write down their entire steps in completing monthly work. In other words, HOW do you do it? Instead, we get a list of all clients from the bookkeepers and WHAT they do for each. Not. The. Same. Thing. No wonder our workflow software has been basically useless for 2 years. No one understands the concept of work FLOW. Arrgggh. I was trying to schedule a telehealth visit and it wouldn't let me get past the payment stage, but kept authorizing my card. I called the help desk and found out I have to download the phone app, log in, start the process all over again, and pay on the phone app. Nope. Not happening. I'll find another service. There was NOTHING on the website indicating I had to pay by phone app. Double arrggghh. In summary, it's Monday. On a brighter note, my cordless drill arrives today. I can't wait to do all the projects I've put off because I didn't have one My muscle pull is getter better too I think. So maybe it's not a bad Monday afterall I do think I need another cup of coffee though. Flavored this time.

Way to go Labby! Twila is slowly winning Trixie over. Trixie even joins in on the playing some times (and when it's all 3 of them playing at once, it's total bedlam and sounds like they're destroying the house)

Ah ha. My one kitchen ceiling drip is now dripping along an entire pipe that runs from the wall, across the top of the cabinet, to the light fixture. Maintenance guy just went upstairs to check on what might be leaking from there.
*sigh*
Wonder what's causing it? They've had constant issues with the plumbing in this building ever since I moved in. They've shut us off several times, and I still don't have cold water pressure in the master bathroom.

We had our Valentine bake sale to fund our spay/neuter programs over the weekend (thank you, Val, for all your baked stuff) and I took one of our big monetary donors out to lunch today.
Made a stop at HEB on the way home and they had their whole wings and wing drumettes on sale for $1.19 a pound. Bought as many packages as I had room for in my freezer. Packages of wings sold yesterday for $10 and today for $3. I think they overestimated their potential Super Bowl wing sales.

I wonder if the previous freezing temps caused part of a pipe to split that finally got big enough to cause the leaking. I remember when I was a kid going into the bathroom and there was water dripping through the ceiling. We had copper plumbing upstairs and a pipe split.
I hope they get that fixed asap. Sorry you got a building with faulty plumbing.

I noticed yesterday a lot of potential "superbowl party foods" were marked up significantly over the usual prices at HEB. OTOH, eggs did go down about 75-cents. Produce prices were down a bit and selection was better too Water leak solved. Upstairs bought a new washer and the company that installed it didn't hook it up right, so the gasket was leaking. They'll come back tomorrow to see what they have to do to the ceiling, once the water is reabsorbed. I'm just happy to know my ceiling won't cave in while I'm fixing dinner

Nice day today - I did my shipping then went to the trails south of me, perimeter trails around a golf course. They're hilly with steps where it becomes too steep to climb on the muddy trail surface. It's amazing how they managed to put such a nice trail in a crowded area like Seattle at the city limits with only two sidewalk sections! Two laps is just under five miles, and if you take it fast, it's a good workout. It was about 40 deg but my clothes and gloves were sweated by the time I was done - heavy gray skies but no rain. Then I parked the car at the Goodwill near there and walked over to the coffee house for a much desired triple short latte and an everything bagel and cream cheese - their bagels are smaller, which is good, but so intensely flavourful that even I can taste them with my Covid taste buds! I read for a while, sipped coffee and ate, then went to the Goodwill and found some things on their $1.99 tag sale (which is good, because they raised their prices about 30%), then went home. And joy of joys, just as I reached home, it started raining! So I felt very virtuous and cozy looking out the window.
It's snowing now. The DH said big sloppy flakes were falling when he was riding home from work.

Just checked around my yard and it is telling me that spring is here. Rose bush is blooming, Mountain Laurel are blooming and mesquite tree across the alley is leafing out. When the mesquite tree starts showing new leaves, our hard freezes are done for this winter.

Sunny day today and currently 53 which is unheard of this time of year. Hard to believe back in 2007 we got 14" of snow dumped on us. I still have my "Valentine's Day emergency shovel", per my request. It's come in handy many times since then. I definitely like this weather better.

It snowed this morning - in the south county they had more snow and then it all froze over and caused a complete mess. East of us the passes were closed. The snow has melted now and we have partly cloudy outside, and a bit cold, it might reach 40 today but will be freezing by this evening - my running friend and I are going out to do some miles when he's done with work and will probably be pretty wrapped up, with any dogs with us bundled into coats, unless it's Banksy who looks like a bear right now.

DH and a friend and I went bumming today. Picket up a few resellable things on clearance at a remote Walmart. Nice weather, 56 degrees. a few rain showers but now it's really windy! My crocuses are starting to pop and that's not really a good thing. A few hostas are starting too, but it's WAY too early. If we get cold weather in the next few weeks, we'll have to cover everything that's sprouting. Last year the hostas got nipped by a late frost and looked terrible all summer.

DH had to go downtown for jury duty, which he hopes he won't have to do. Left early to park at a bus depot and take the train downtown (parking is ridiculous plus rush hour equals avoid if possible). Sent me message how bored he is waiting (the males in his family lack the patience gene).
It's going to be sunny and an unbelievable 66 degrees so I definitely want to get out and go somewhere to enjoy it. Don't have anything blooming anywhere and the trees have wised up through the years to stay dormant until it's actually spring. Which is a good thing because it will be high 30 on Friday and the white precip instead of liquid.

My dad used to pick up the Cleveland bus behind Shoregate Shopping Center and take it into downtown Cleveland every work day. I remember him wearing his suit, raincoat and hat like they wore in the 60’s. Wasn’t far of a walk.
Great weather here. Got out walking three days in a row. Had so much going on after my fall and then dorm checks at work.

Very gusty, strong winds but still an unbelievably gorgeous day today. Decided to go to VoA and was pleasantly surprised to see a store next to it was open called "Things Outlet". Figured any store with "Thing" (my fave Addams Family character) in the name was worth a look. It's a combination closeouts, bins and salvage mostly Target stuff. Every day is a different price on the bins and gaylords starting at $10 (which you'd be crazy to pay) down to today with is $1 and buy 3, get one free. Actually found a few things, like a couple blackout curtains, lounge/pajama pants, flannel shirt, soft throw and couple other things. Will definitely be back to spend more time digging into the gaylords and happy to have a cheap place to shop.
Came home to find DH home. He would have been juror #4, but literally at the last minute a plea deal was made and everyone was dismissed. They didn't even get any time to get something to eat so he was really hungry when he got back and glad that's over. He was glad weather was nice because downtown Cleveland in winter is really bad with wind gusts off Lake Erie.

Looks like we're getting the wind later tonight and back to chilly days for a few days. No freeze warning though, so any early blooming plants should be OK.

For anyone needing floating shelves for lightweight stuff, small plants, etc. Dollartree has several styles now are they're pretty decent for the price ($5). All of the colors are nice too (gray, black, taupe/tan, white). www.dollartree.com/decorative-wall-shelves-178x4x18-in/336342www.dollartree.com/ledge-shelf-set-3-pc/336305www.dollartree.com/bellavilla-living-u-shaped-wall-ledge-shelves-18-in/336316I bought one of the first style and a couple of the small shelves, to put up for small knicknacks I don't want the cats getting to, to use as a plant shelf, etc. Plastic but decent for the price. The small ones are the same stuff as ones on Amazon and AMZ prices are a lot higher. Partly cloudy and high 50s here today. Cold front blew through last night and apparently some folks lost power. My complex didn't. National Almond Day, eh? I like them slivered in salads and green beans. I'm waiting for Pecan Day though. I love pecans any way I can get them

Thinking of the line in a song, "What a difference a day makes.....24 little hours". Yesterday got up to almost 70, today is 44. Glad it's off and on rain instead of the alternative. Needed a few things at grocery store (trying chili in crockpot tomorrow) and got confirmation a couple things I ordered from Dollar Tree were delivered to local store so same plaza shopping to get everything and started to rain as I was leaving. I do stock up on items from Dollar Tree at times and like the option to have them delivered to a store for free instead of paying delivery.

If anyone is like me and has cats who will eat real plants, or if you kill plants, and you want some fakes ones that aren't overly expensive, Joann has theirs on sale. I got the three mini hanging herb options and have them hanging over the breakfast bar from the kitch overhang. They're not bad for the price (under $7 right now). Up close you can tell they're plastic, but hanging it's not noticeable. And if you want larger, nice fake plants, check out Ikea. I bought the bamboo plant - absolutely gorgeous but unfortunately too large for my living room. The larger floor size Ikea plants are as nice as Nearly Natural and 1/3-1/2 the price of Nearly Natural brand. /Home Decorating PSA

I don't know why I torture myself checking out Myrtle Beach webcams, especially one that's direct ocean view with the waves coming in looking at the soft, white sand saying out loud how lucky the folks walking/running/biking on it are. Currently 69 down there and 26, feels like 13 with windchill up here with a "confectioner sugar" sprinkling of snow here and there and overcast blank sky. I'm actually working on making more room so I can get a fake palm tree or more to at least psychologically feel more comfortable. I love palm trees.
Trying making chili in my Crock-pot. Printed out recipe and chip-clipped it to knob on kitchen cabinet that was perfect eye level to not only read the recipe easily, but kept it from getting possibly stained.

I bought a set of 2 fake hanging pothos plants on AMZ. I knew from the description that they would be small, but geez they're almost microscopic Fortunately the place I wanted to hang them works well with a small plant, so all is good. And they were only $10 for both plants/pots/hangers, so I can't really complain. Good thing I didn't get them for the patio or to hang from the ceiling though. Guess I'll go out and brave the Friday afternoon crowd at HEB. Then I can start my 3 day weekend We used to only get the basic 6 holidays, but last year the sr partner decided we deserved all the holidays plus the week between Christmas & New Years. It worked out so well we get all the holidays this year too, along with Christmas week. We think he really just wanted to go golf with his buddies on the Monday holidays I need to remember to charge up my new drill tonight so it's ready for all the little projects I have this weeekend.
