Good morning, everyone! Can't complain with colder temps and no snow to deal with. Nice to see sunshine, too, that always makes it feel a little warmer. Hope everyone has a healthy day!

I'm finally moved. Whew. This was a hard move. Now I just have to unpack everything I'm waiting on the apartment to come fix the suppport arms to the closet shelving. Once that's fixed, unpacking will speed up a bit. I think I may have accidentally tossed my computer cables, keyboard and mouse I'm not too upset on the keyboard, it was a really cheap one and the letters had started wearing off. I was waffling on a new one anyway. Cables are cheap. But I do miss my egonomic rechargeable wireless mouse. I ordered some a cheapie mouse from AMZ for now. If I don't find it after everthing has been unpacked, I'll replace it with the same thing. Setting up the internet was easy. Just plug it all in. My network name and password stayed the same. Can't get any more convenient than that! Now to carve out an area in the living room so I can set up the TV.

Last full week of classes before exams and winter break. Already told them I am no longer killing myself over break.
Must have been one heck of an Admin Asst holiday party this morning. Staff member left her handbag and phone there. Hasn’t called or e-mailed us back. Surely hope she is ok.

Val - what brand/type of mouse? I may have one here - I sell mice on a regular basis.
Labby - I hope the admin has rouse out of her hangover by now - dang - how did she get home without housekeys? Hopefully she didn't end up in a supplies closet somewhere.
It's still icy out, though I was able to drive around in it because I took a route which had been de-iced to ship my outgoing packages and check at my favourite little thrift off the highway in the next town. They did not disappoint, I found about 10 items, which is a HAUL for me. Haven't been thrifting except once briefly in England for almost two months and I'm running out again unless I want to start listing summer - I have enough for about a week if I really stretch it.
The DH had to use crampons to make it down and then back up the hill to catch the bus - since that's 1 1/2 miles each way chomping around through ice and lumpy snow he said he felt he had had his workout. I did my workout on the indoor trainer to YouTube spin videos - I have some favourites and they make the time fly by plus give a good workout.

A first last night - all three cats on the sofa watching TV with me. Simon is in my lap. I think the cats like the new place. It's big enough they could each have their own room. Simon and Twila love the extra play room. They're constantly chasing each other from bedroom to bedroom (they're on either side of the living room) Twila appears to be really enjoying the plank flooring. The mouse goes farther when she bats it around. They were all very annoyed with me this morning. I didn't put one of the cat blankets on the desk for them to lay on and all three of them kept jumping up and walking all over the desk. At one point ALL of them were up on the desk and the same time. While I was trying to work The desk isn't that big with all the computers. I managed to find one of the blankets, folded it up and put it on one end of one desk. I then moved the short cat tree next to that, and it's all in front of a window. Everyone is now happy. They can be demanding little creatures

Partly cloudy and 77 on tap here today. That is so Christmas feeling. Not. I was on the computer later last night than usual, which lead to watching TV later, then getting to bed too late. Followed by waking up too early this morning. After I listened to the upstairs neighbor open dresser drawers, walk around a lot, and turn on the water in the bathroom, I decided I was awake and got up. Good thing I did, my early morning delivery from WM had an unavailble item and WM asked if I wanted it shipped (sure). I hope the maintenance guys come today to fix my closet shelves. I've held off stuffing boxes in the closet so they can get to the shelves, but if they don't come today I'm putting the boxes in there anyway this afternoon. I can't arrange furniture until I put the boxes somewhere temporarily. I can't unpack boxes until the furniture is in place so I can put the stuff out on/in the furniture. I'm taking today off so I can get some order in the place. After I swing by Ikea that is. They have a chair I'm interested in but I want to see the actual shade of yellow in real life. Plus I get 5% off if I order it in store, and get free delivery. Sounds good to me. And I admit...I want a mindless break for an hour or two Although given it's Ikea, the break might be longer than an hour since one tends to get lost in such a huge store Meanwhile, off to make another cup of coffee. What flavor do I want today?

My upstairs neighbor has birds in a cage on his/her balcony. I can't tell if they're lovebirds, parakeets or cockatiels from my level. They chirp a lot during the day and I think it might be driving Twila nuts. She can hear birds, but she can't find them anywhere outside the windows I like the chirping but I do feel sorry for Twila. Simon doesn't seem to care either way. He seems to prefer watching the squirrels and dogs.

Bummer about the upstairs neighbor, Val. Main reason DH insisted on top floor when we moved here, though neighbors on any level can be nuisances.
I'd love to have 77 degrees here. Even 60 would be great. Currently 46 and overcast. At least there's no snow in the forecast, which is great because DH finally got promo for free room at casino so we're doing overnight trip end of week. Will be nice to get away and not worry about the weather is a bonus.
Wish we had an IKEA store here. We were supposed to get one, but the economy took a hit and they backed out.

My upstairs neighbor really isn't too bad. It's the usual building noise you hear - walking, water, etc. and easily ignored when you're asleep. I like listening to the birds. I do hope they bring them inside though on the really hot or cold days. My niece lives on the ground floor and her upstairs neighbor family sounds like a herd of thundering elephants when they just walk across the floor. Mine are fairly quiet, not much different than my other building. At least now I don't have to worry about annoying anyone below me. That will come in handy as I drop stuff while unpacking, start doing workouts, do laundry at midnight, etc. Off to Ikea. Google map shows no traffic jams - fingers crossed.

It's beautiful today! Sunny and 62!
We only had a few snowfalls so far, and I wasn't in either of them. Only about 5" total accumulation. We did have one icy day.
This is my kind of winter weather.

Ikea was a bit of a disappointment. It was like walking thru a fog at dusk Everything was black, white, beige or shades of gray. Ugh. I'd always thought Ikea stuff came in colors but guess I was wrong. Or they've been seriously affected by the supply chain problem. The only real color was the yellow, but they didn't have anything in yellow in stock. I did finally find an ottoman in the same color, it's an ugly gold mustard, not the shade I need. Are all Swedes short maybe? Almost all of the furniture was really low to the ground even for me, and I'm 5'5" - not overly tall. The Christmas Advent calender is cute though. The daily treats sound really good so I picked one up for grins. I've always wanted to do one . They make some really good fruit jams too. Clouds cleared enough to be partly sunny and there's a nice breeze. Not December weather, but a nice day anyway.

We got their Advent calendar w/ candy last year- the chocolates were so good! When you're finished with the candy be sure to look inside the box. Last year there was a $5 gift card (or 2) inside! Oooh, now I want to wander IKEA today! We're supposed to take a short drive to wander a nearby towns main street. It's always decorated so cute for Christmas. But it's pouring today so IKEA may be a better choice... but it's just not the same vibe.

Supposedly there are two gift cards, one for $5 and the other for a plate of meatballs at the cafe, I think. The chocolates are really good! I decided to split the catching up to the current day between today and tomorrow.

I rarely leave thhe property if it is cold and/or raining. Today was totally my kind of day (80 and sunshine) so I headed over to a small strip center right behind a Walmart. Multiple shopping opportunities. Cruised thru Home Goods, Shechers Outlet, and Tuesday Morning. On to TJ Maxx and you would have thought they were giving stuff away. 8 cashiers working and there was still a line. I wasn't looking for anything in particular and then I spied these amazing shoes. Fate had led me to these shoes. Only 3 pairs left and one of them was in my size. It was meant to be. Grabbed them and waited in line. No shortage of customers in that store or in my next stops, Walmart and HEB, either.

No, Swedes aren't all short. All my great-grandparents and one grand-father were born in Sweden and many of the men were 6 footers. I knew a couple of women about my age who were from Sweden. One was a naturalized citizen, the other here temporarily because her husband worked for IKEA & was on assignment in the U.S. for a while. Both women were around 5' 10".
I haven't been to IKEA in a long time. I'd like to go get some Christmas treats.
When I was a child the grown-ups ate lutefisk on Christmas Eve. The smell repulsed me. My meal that night was usually lingon berries with molasses bread and butter. Yum!

Those shoes are all over all three sites. Maybe you should have bought the other two pair and held on to them until next Christmas Cute shoes!

LOL I am pretty much done with Ebay both buying and selling and never got on those other sites. I have 15 listings up and each morning I hope nothing sold because I don't want to go to the post office.

I put in two more maintenance requests today, that's five open requests. If I don't receive the email tomorrow telling me the earlier requests are scheduled, I think I'm going to call the office. I really only care about one of them. I'm stuck on the unpacking until someone gets here and fixes the supports to the shelving in the master bedroom closet. I can't hang up the hanging clothes, store the off season clothes, or unbox my shoes because a) I need the shelves, and b) I need to leave room in the closet for the maintenance guys to work I put the request in Monday and it's never taken the office this long to respond. Meanwhile, I ordered several handy organizing thingies. I lost a double top and bottom cabinet in the kitchen and my laundry room is smaller than the old place, so there is some lost shelving space there. I have to be more efficient with what I have. There's some really cool stuff out there! I finally found the kind of over the door spice rack I've been wanting, so that's good. I also think I found the one gadget no one has invented yet - an over the door mug rack for those who rent and don't want to put holes in the wall, and don't want to give up counter space

I find forensic science fascinating. Love watching shows where evidence from many years back has been able to provide IDs for deceased as well as DNA to catch up with murderers.

I bought these for my closets years ago. I love them. I have 3 of them. I got mine at Bradlees but just Google wire basket drawers. Target sells them. I already have wire shelving in all of the closets. I was looking for add-ons to the shelving: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B93JST1G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004C1SFR8/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1The first one should be short enough I can hang it over the washer and still be able to open the washer lid. I already have 2 of the ClosetMaid baskets in the laundry room and wanted a few more for the master closet. The closets have two levels of shelving. I hang the baskets from the bottom shelf and can store smaller things there, while still having the floor space below available for larger items, boxes, etc. They're really handy. I called the apartment office to check on one of my maintenance requests and Margo answered the phone. I've dealt with her before and she's basically useless. Her standard answer is "I don't know". What it should be is "I'm sorry, I don't know but let me ask someone for you". It's not even a case of youth and no customer service skills yet - she's close to my age. I told her what the problem was and she asked, "can't you still use the closet?". Yeah the closet is still "functional" but the shelves are not. Unless you want the shelving to entirely pull out of the wall, lady. Do you really want that? (I didn't say that, I just thought it LOL). I've never had the complex take 4 days to fix something (excluding jobs that are outsourced). Guess they're feeling the lack of qualified help issue like everyone else. Guess I better get moving about. I need to go to the grocery store. But maybe another cup of coffee first

...for those who rent and don't want to put holes in the wall, and don't want to give up counter space Val, have you tried hanging your racks with removable 3M Command Strips? The large ones are rated for 20 pounds each!

They don't work all that well on textured walls, which is what I have. They don't stick for long and when you remove them, it often takes the paint with it. Tried in the other apt. I love them though in the windows to hang Christmas lights on!

The roads are clear enough here to go running and the DH at last could ride his bike to work. The rain has been melting off the snow, though it let up this morning. I see piled up boughs and all sorts of chopped up downed trees, etc. all along my route - a lot of it is being converted into firewood as people here tend to supplement their heating with whatever wood they find, or might by a cord of wood for the winter.
There's some kind of in-line auto-complete going on here - is this a new feature for the Proboards?

What is an "in-line auto repeat", Chap?
Maintenance guy is here, woo hoo! Shelves are fixed and now he's working on the leak from the AC. One of my bath rugs was soaked this morning, that's the only reason I noticed it. I hope he fixes the water flow in the master bathroom while he's here, but it's ok if he has to come back for that one. I have two bathrooms so it's not an emergency. I can't wait to go back to unpacking this evening.
