Another month almost gone. Kids are back in school so watch out for them, buses with flashing lights and school zones. Temps are up and down this week again. Just hoping to get down to Myrtle Beach next month (less than 2 weeks away and already getting excited). Hope everyone has a safe and healthy day today!

Just hope it happens as hurricane season is ramping up and there are already 4 possible systems in the Atlantic.

Review left on Chewy for pet water fountain: I have 3 cats and they each have different ways they like to drink. I’m hoping this will keep them off the dogs 5gal water bottle! The cats like to make it glug-glug by attacking it and scaring the dogs.LOL at the cats scaring the dogs!

I dog sat DS and future DIL's dog while they went on the their honeymoon for the last 10 days, I had to utter a sentence I never thought I would....Nala please stop licking the bird and Phil the bird get up on a higher perch now. The bird was sitting against the side of cage letting the dog lick it all over turning from side to side. It was crazy to watch.
I gave Nala a new toy for National Dog day it was labeled for aggressive chewer, she had it in pieces in 15 minutes. I emailed the company to ask what toy was good for an apparently more than aggressive chewer, lol and they said they would send a rope toy in size XL to see if that would keep her busy a while. It was nice to have a company stand behind their products. The company was Petmate.

My grandson Jaxson's, first day of 5th grade! Hopefully there will be fewer trips to the principal's office this year. Wow! He starting to look like a little man - he's a handsome kid! Those feet...do you think he's going to get pretty tall? It's supposed to get over 90 tomorrow for our last of the summer blast. I'm scheduled for the usual pie ride - hopefully we can stay in the trees.

Chap-yep-he will be tall. His idiot father is 6'2". Jaxson is almost as tall as me. I am 5' 1", which is not tall at all. LOL. My daughter said that soon she will be able to wear his expensive shoes.
The good news is that his father hasn't seen him for a year, which is the father's choice. Now that his dad is dating a meth addict, that is another reason why he shouldn't see his son.

Wow, Denise, What a handsome guy!!!! I hope it is a better school year for him. My youngest daughter did great in elementary school, but it slid downhill quickly in 6th grade I hate to think about those years lol.
Well we are getting quite a bit of rain now. So crazy. A drought then too much rain lol. But I don't think we are caught up on rain quite yet. And it helps keep the temps down so that is great. I mowed this morning and it was a beast from all the rain, I'm glad I didn't put it off until tomorrow.
When we went to visit Mom Monday we had forgotten to write it on her calendar so she was hanging out with her boyfriend, and we all had a visit together. A bit awkward and weird, but also kind of nice to get to know him a bit. When we left they were going to the activities room for bingo
DH is taking Friday as a vacation day and we were hoping to grill over the holiday weekend but they are saying high chances of rain, so we'll see. I am hoping VV will do a 1/2 off sale for Labor day but lately they don't let you know until the last minute so fingers crossed.

We fired a client last week, told him we'd service him through today (he was paid thru 8/31). This morning he showed us the list of what the new accountant said they needed. That's when we figured out who he's moving to, and we're thrilled. . It's the payroll service that poached several of our bookkeeping clients because they also have an accounting division (we were unaware of that at the time). It also appears the fired client is assigned to our former employee who went to work for the poaching firm. This is the same former employee who told all our clients she was assigned to where she was going and poached some of those clients. We're thrilled, because she's not that good and will screw up the books. Also, when she was with us this client was a good cooperative client - he is NOT anymore. We fired him because he'd become a huge uncooperative, whiny, verbally abusive PITA. We bent over backwards to schedule a meeting last week that he wanted, and he didn't show. That's when the sr partner fired the client. This means our former employee - and the poaching firm - is in for a big surprise because they're expecting the perfect client. We're soooooooooo happy. . We also suspect this client might be out of business in the next 2 years or less. He's gambling heavily (BIG cash withdrawals at casino ATMs) and is allowing employees to smoke pot on company premises (recreational pot is legal in NM). Unfortunately, that also means there is a HUGE liability issue for him since employees would be working while under the influence. He's in construction. Not a good combo. And now no longer our problem Now I'm listening to a webinar on the Inflation Reduction Act (yawn) . The webinar would be OK if the presenter would stop making political comments about the Act. . I'm not sure if I'll finish the webinar or not. I may go look for one offered by someone else. Then it's back to bookkeeping and taxes for the rest of the day. At least the one I'm working on this afternoon is a great client who gives us not only what we need, but often more than what we need. I love working on his stuff Cloudy and humid forecast through the weekend. I hope it includes some rain.

When I was in the corp world I recall several clients storming out and we thinking we ought to bust out the champagne and toast their leaving - they were somebody else's problem now. Particularly when I worked for a manuscript prep company - oh gawd...these wanna-be best selling authors and their drivel. I bailed on the Pie Ride today - I was just too exhausted from night after night of side effects from that medication (which I stopped yesterday). I did not have muscle cramps last night but I just had to keep sleeping - I struggled on it for over a month. I've been asked to stay off the stuff and check my BP regularly. The top number will be high, the bottom number fine. I'm not sure more weight loss will help, but it's an easy ask so I'll continue. Looking for a dry fryer - I know there are recipes on here and I'll check those, but does anyone have a current recommendation? I don't have much counter space and it's only to feed one (my DH is absolute in his eating habits and cooks for himself) - I pretty much eat what is put in front of me, but naturally tilt toward being vegetarian - though I eat chicken and fish on occasion I never prepare it, so it'll just be veg, tofu, kebabs, stuff like that.

Did you mean "air" fryer instead of "dry" fryer? . I bought my original smaller one from QVC or HSN, brand is Cooks Essentials. The larger one I absolutely love is a Ninja Foodi, and is available at multiple outlets. My doc changed my BP drug from the one I'd been on (and was working fine) to another one he preferred. The side effects from the new one were miserable. After a particularly bad weekend, I decided it made no sense to take drugs to fix a side effect caused by a drug that could easily be replaced by an equally good drug with no side effects. So I went back to the original drug, told the doctor's nurse about it and said I was not, under any circumstances, taking the new drug any longer. They didn't argue with me. There are MANY good drugs out there that successfully treat high blood pressure, so it's insane to take one that is causing such miserable side effects. IMO anyway. Put your foot down with the doc if you have to.

He used to get diarrhea before his dad called him! The call time is between 7 and 8 pm. But now his dad only calls once or twice a week. We are especially glad that this happened since the father wouldn't let Jax play any sports and he was only allowed to hunt and fish. And Jax excels in every sport that he participates in now that he can go!
And yes, every single time that I see him, he stands beside me and pretends that he is taller....but he is about 3 inches shorter.

Chap-my air fryer is a Yedi that I got from the show The View for half price at $26. It is about $58 at Walmart. The basket is small though....about 7" in diameter. I don't have enough counter space to get a larger one.

I woke up this morning thinking "dang it's warm in here". Then I sat up a little and checked out the bed. Both Simon AND Twila were sleeping, stretched out behind my legs. Simon was bad enough, but now I have double heaters. They're so cute, though, that I can't really get mad. Thank goodness cooler weather is on the way. Speaking of weather, 90, cloudy and muggy on tap for here today. I'm sort of stuck at work right now, until some clients respond back with critical information I asked them for yesterday. Guess I'll go run some errands while I'm waiting. That's one really nice thing about being a contractor, I can "start" my workday whenever I want.

You mean there is some justice in the universe? My favorite client story occurred on the day after 9/11. I was the Creative Director for an ad agency here in Manhattan. A client calls up whining and demanding to know when they will receive the stuff we were working on for them. I answered that we'd let them know after we dig the copywriter out of the rubble. Yes, hell is other people. We never fired our clients; that's why advertising employment is tallied up in dog years.

jesmelric What did you think of your mother's boyfriend? He seems like a nice enough guy. We talked a bit about music, and oldest DD lives in Portland, and he's from Oregon. But he did have a stroke a while back and so sometimes he's a bit hard to understand. He and mom joke and kid around, and he buys her snacks from the machines, I guess that's all the courting you can do in a nursing home
Denise, I feel you on those hot flashes! Ugh I am on and off with the sheet all night
We had more showers yesterday afternoon, and it's thundering again so I just pulled the laundry off the line. 70% chance Sat - Mon, I guess we are grilling Friday.

Yes - air fryer! I don't know where I got 'dry fryer' lol. Thank you - I'll check out those models. I don't need a large one as I don't eat that much at one sitting but eat 4 times a day. When my grandma was in a rest home she had two beaus who used to bring her ice cream.

My webinar ended up actually being interesting. Partly because it means I now have more work to do in our off season (good for me, it's billable time LOL) and partly because it's a BIG step forward for the IRS being able to catch shoddy accountant practices and closes a big loophole for business owners use to avoid paying taxes. Actually the webinar may have also provided me a second project, if the partners want to do the second one. We'll be slowing down at work for the next 2-3 months, and while it's nice to work less hours I still need to work a minimum amount for my bills. These projects are the kind of stuff I like to do and the 2 partners don't like to do. Partly cloudy and muggy here today. After today, our temps move into the 80's for the next week. Works for me. I'm more than ready for fall.

Simon has solved the fetch dilemma. He loves to play fetch with me, but now that Twila is here it's a bit hard to do. She'll chase after whatever was thrown and run off with it and poor Simon has nothing to retrieve. I tried tossing two balls at once, one for each of them in hopes that Twila would play with one and Simon could have the other. What Twila did instead was watch Simon bring his toy back to me, and she copied him. Which is pretty cute, except Twila has the attention span of a toddler and after about 3 retrievals, she's ready to bat the ball around instead. The other night, Simon started letting her run after the ball and he followed her. He let her play with with it for maybe 20-30 seconds, then picked it up and brought it back to me so I could throw it again. Twila is happy, she gets to chase and then play with the ball, and Simon gets to play fetch. My Simon is a smart guy.

I miss the DH running through the downstairs trailing a string, with our two cats skirmishing after it. Then of course the time Jamie came running into the library with Cassie riding on top of her back. I wish I had a photo of that!
We're seeing the last of our hot weather - it's unusual to have it be up to 80 this time of year, but summer didn't arrive until almost mid-July, so that's about right - a good six weeks. We usually have nice Septembers - when people come to visit from out of town I always suggest they come just after Labor Day if they want the best weather and fewer tourists - it may be chilly, but it will be mostly clear and fresh. Not chilly this weekend, though.

Just did a crazy "company is coming" type cleanup. It's amazing what I can do in 1.5-hrs if I put my mind to it and don't stop. Cleaning that would take me days as I dilly-dally around taking my good old time to get it done in bits and pieces. I really need to get on the ball here and start doing things as they are needed, not look at them and say, I'll take care of that tomorrow.
Totally exhausted but the main floor of the house smells good, a blend of lemon polish on all the family room furniture, sea salt air spray and Fabuloso ocean breeze scent on all the kitchen counters. Nothing clashes, all blends in fragrantly. Smells clean.

Made my first sale on Amazon FBA (fulfilled by Amazon). Sold a $25.00 book, for a profit of roughly $15.50 (I paid 50 cents for the book). I just started FBA two weeks ago, have sourced a couple hundred books already and am steadily sending them to Amazon. I got approved for CDs and DVDs also. I am sending in a box of 40 books, a box of about 100 CDs and a box of about 50 DVDs. Can't wait until more stuff gets listed (they make my stuff active as they receive them into the system). I have a circuit of thrifts that I make every weekend and come home with about 50 books, not to mention my CDs. I'm told that consistently sending in product is the key, so I am going to to that.
