Good morning everyone! It's actually been a pretty decent summer month around here which is nice but very odd as we're normally sweltering up here. Not complaining. Will save that when winter rears its ugly head and hope that's a long way off. Anywho, hope everyone has the best day possible.

We are getting much needed rain.
I guess someone scammed work because not only did I need a receipt for my new shoes, I needed to submit shipping notices. Luckily I hadn’t deleted them yet. I usually go through my emails on Sunday night.

We had a couple nasty storms come through yesterday. There was one loud crack of lightning pretty close that made me jump. Need to go to the P.O. so will see if a tree was struck. Thankful power stayed on. Currently lightly raining and looks like rain most of the day. Computer says "partly sunny", lol.
labbypaws, it's a shame there are people who have to be dishonest and makes it harder on everyone.

We have storm warnings though Wednesday afternoon. Maybe if we're lucky, it will actually storm Water is off right now, they're fixing a water main break. They did give us advance notice over the weekend. I have disinfectant hand wipes and bottled water, so all is good. I hung my Beto for Texas sign in one of my living room windows. There really wasn't anywhere to hang it on the balcony. Well, I could hang it in one of the bedroom windows but they're on the back of the balcony and not seen all that well from the ground. It makes no sense to hang a sign that makes a point in a place that no one can see the point you're trying to make

We have had storms nearly every day for a week. That is fine by me. I am afraid to carry buckets of water since that is how I broke my back. And wow, is it taking long to heal....
My gardens are doing well, and am especially happy with the squash and zucchini that I planted along my driveway wall. I have to cover them overnight to keep the deer from eating them, and uncover them in the morning so the bees can pollinate the flowers. The skinnier bees can get through, but not the chubby ones.
My local produce guy told me that his squash are slow to produce since it has been so dry before this week. But I am getting about 3 a day, so that is pretty good. And it looks like I will be picking several tomorrow.

I had a nice rainstorm in my neck of the woods yesterday afternoon, with thunder and lightening. I hope I get another one today. We could seriously use the rain. Photo showing effects of drought in part of SA just since last year: Serious drought conditions in much of the growing area of the country is also why food prices are rising, and will continue to rise. If you like frozen waffles but you don't like that they often taste like cardboard when they come out of the toaster, dump the toaster and air fry them. Layer flat (not on top of each other), and cook at 400 degrees for 3 minutes on one side, flip and cook for another 2 minutes. If your air fryer has multiple cook settings, use the air fryer option. They come out crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside (well, as fluffy as anything frozen can be LOL). Also, if you've sworn off of frozen waffles because of the sodium content, check out the kids waffles. Same size, but usually healthier (ones I had this morning had butternut squash puree in them) and often lower in sodium than their "adult" counterpart. /PSA

Lots of talk about the drout here too, it's alarming seeing bathtub ring on Lake Mead and Lake Powell. Then I read on FB there's rumors of new water park being built a ways out in Maricopa. I didn't read one positive remark about it in the comments. Everyone was pretty ticked off about the idea.

Woke up in my own bed with my own pillow. Drinking coffee and eating toast with my cat at my feet (he bit my toe but that's just a Sammy thing, lol) Glorious day ahead without any real plans or responsibility. Why? Baby Riley came home from the hospital yesterday after 4 weeks!! 🥰 She seems to be doing well but needs to gain weight. We're all thrilled to see & hold her again. I know I'll still be helping out a lot but that's different than being full time overnight granny :-)
I'm gonna celebrate by finally unboxing my new vacuum and chase some dust bunnies (the dust bunnies could almost push the vac themselves) and maybe pull a few weeds when I water my garden. If I get ambitious I could start a few listings... nah. Not today. :-)
Have a great day everyone!

I picked 3 yellow squash and 2 zucchini's today!

I like to slice up zucchini, yellow squash, onion, green bell pepper, red bell pepper and mushrooms, tossed with flavored olive oil and put in the air fryer. Yum!

I tried all kinds of squash recipes and now all I do is to chop up the squash & roast it in the oven. Then top it with parmesan, cheddar and flavored bread crumbs and put it under the broiler.
Val-I do the same thing that you do when I don't have a glut of squash. But I have to use my oven, since my air fryer is teeny.
I used to also add cauliflower and broccoli, but since they are pretty high in folic acid, I can't eat them as long as I am on this chemo.
I was bad and ate an ear of corn each day for a week and now my feet are terrible. Geesh.

Denise, the larger air fryer I bought was well worth the extra $. I rarely turn on the oven now

I just love my air fryer.
Lately I've been making a lot of toasted ham sandwiches on Sweet Hawaiian buns with melty swiss cheese and a generous amount of honey mustard sauce. They're so good!

Apparently I celebrated National Waffle Day a day early - yesterday. Since I only eat waffles maybe once or twice a year, I'm saying I celebrated early Woke up to rain this morning. It would be nice if it rained a lot today. And tomorrow. And the day after...... My new office chair came in really fast - like 3 days after I ordered it . It's heavy, too - 65 lbs according to the box. I'll tackle the assembly this weekend. That way I can put it together, and if it works, I can take the current chair to Goodwill. I need to buy a slip cover for the new chair - I don't want a black chair in my "office" but apparently heavy duty chairs are marketed to the male population, not the female. Amazon had some really cute covers so that problem is solved

Hi, guys. Hope everyone is doing well. I took a bit of an internet break last week, just feeling sad and moving through my feelings. It kind of comes in waves.
We have had some much needed rain here, too. In fact on Friday we had an ACTUAL RAINY DAY!! It sure has been a long time since we had one of those. And we had some on and off rain on Saturday and then some more rain this morning, too. I'm glad I got the yard mowed Monday morning.
We had a nice visit with mom yesterday. She'd been struggling with her roommate watching loud tv all night and she was having trouble sleeping. Not sure if it's related but they moved the roommate a few days ago and mom was pretty elated lol. And she and the boyfriend are going strong, it seems love has plumped her up a bit and she needs some new pants
Denise I hope your back is feeling better.
Retro, that is great news! Yay for Riley

Jes...Lol to your mom. Glad that she is happy.
Thanks for the well wishes. Doing my best to get through this, but the break causes bad pains across my whole lower back. Guess the break hits my nerves or something.

I was checking my Facebook feed and they had a great article about changing marital status in one’s older years and why one should stay single, etc. I don’t have time to find it because I am busy with the college first year and upper class coming in.

I am all for divorce and then staying single. I don't have the time or patience to try to deal with men who expect to control me.

No worries, mom won't be getting married as they both receive financial assistance and can't chance messing that up. I told her if they want to consider themselves spiritually married that is fine. She said she usually goes to his room to "visit" after breakfast and comes back to her room for lunch then goes back to see him for a bit again, so it seems they spend a lot of time together. My sister picked her up some pants and a top at Walmart yesterday. I'm hoping the VV will do 1/2 off for labor day and I can pick her up a few more pair of pants. She had lost a lot of weight after the stroke and then she had gained back a bit but since she's been with him she's put on a bit more
No rain today, lots of sunshine and heat. But more chances over the next few days so hopefully we will start to get caught up.

I've never been married and after almost 6 years of dating, some days I want to run for the hills and never return. If he wasn't a work a holic it might be better, he's been working (by choice) 14 hours a day. He'd say it's not a choice but it is. If he was hourly it would make more sense to me but he's salary. I admire his work ethic but it's a little much. Lately work just sucks the life out of him so he's drained and irritable when he finally gets home. keeping him in line (impossible) is often like trying to wrangle cats. I don't know how married people do it. I know it cannot be easy for many.
My tenants lease is ending on 10/1 and I've heard nothing from them about it or the the rental managment company (1 guy show... he branched off from Renters Warehouse). I need to send him a text to see what the deal is. Last year he contacted me at the beginning of August about it. Anyway, lately living alone back at my house has been on my mind if tenants are ready to move on. We had a long talk today about this, men are or can be so freakin delusional. I'm so thankful for that little house and having this option available to me.

You can still see each other, spend time together, but at least you'll have your own territory again. He can figure himself out.

I’m saving a whole lot of money plus I like the location here way better than my house and he’s not home that much 🤣 When we talked yesterday, he had no idea I was so unhappy 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 things will improve but at some point he’ll get lazy again. Wash rinse and repeat.
