Glad you caught it early Bliss. DH has had some spots on his arms that could potentially turn cancerous so he has an annual check and they have frozen (he said it feels more like a burn) them off. I got him these cooling sun protective sleeves that are very effective for times he has to be in the sun. The dermatologist recommended them.
I got a cautiously optimistic update from my stepmom yesterday. Dad is off oxygen completely and has agreed to a nasal tube and they are supposed to move him out of the ICU today. He's old and quite weak so I know this doesn't mean he's going to make a recovery but he's improving even just a bit so that's good news. Mom is doing fine with her second bout of covid, it's mild and they are supposed to let her out of quarantine on Monday so we'll go see her next week. Still going to wear our KN95 masks as I don't trust those old folks not to have it lol.
I need to make an appointment this month for my dental cleaning, I'm trying to wait till 2 weeks after we've had our boosters, to be safe. Also they just opened a Crumbl cookies (RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO THE DENTIST!!) I know I'm not going to be able to resist lol.

NATIONAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE DAY! Celebrating with one of my favorites

Speaking of cookies, especially the chocolate chip ones that you make from a Betty Crocker bag, along with sugar cookies, oatmeal raisins, etc. If by some chance you bake them too long, as I do just about every other time, and they are too crisp and not chewy at all, just put them piled in a sealed plastic Tupperware container with a slice or two of soft white bread for a day. The cookies will absorb the moisture from the white bread and turn the bread as hard as a rock and the cookies will absorb the moisture from the bread causing them to be a touch crisp but also nice and soft. I wreck them every other time so this has helped. Just had to fix them up the other day.

Jess we got the same cookie place near us last month. Not sure I am going to try it as I didn't like the kinds of choices they had.

Ahhhh-nice rain finally! I had to cover my zucchini plants again today since they wilt from the heat...no matter how much I water them.
Speaking of Bird's Eye Sheet Pan Meals...I made mine tonight and I do like it! I got the chicken, potato, cauliflower and green bean one. Family-sized, but I will get 3 meals from it. Not bad for $7 and super easy to make.

We have a crumbl cookie here, in not a fan of the 3 or 4 kinds I've tried.
I use Tupperware for my over baked cookies too. Found out by mistake how well it works when I over baked a big batch of m&m cookies and stashed them in there so they wouldn't get mixed up with the good ones I was serving.
Kids came to visit a couple days later and got into them. I told them they aren't very good they are dry and crumbly, they said no they aren't they are perfect. Walked over and tried one and they were just as moist as my good ones. I didn't have anything other than the cookies in there. It's magic lol

DS and future DIL tried crumbl around here their comment was expensive and nothing really special, all cookies are good when they are soft and warm.
All going good over here almost too good, that is when it starts to scare me, lol. Have had 3 normal conversations with my mother with very little judgment and nastiness. Massage today then out to dinner. I had my friend who is a barber trim my long hair yesterday, it was only $18 which I thought was a incredible bargain. Looks great.
I crumble the hard cookies and stir into ice cream or just sprinkle over the top.

Allikat I started going to Great Clips the beginning of the year. Saving a ton of money between the cut and dying my own hair. I had photos of what I wanted and she does it. I am sure it is just a standard cut for short hair. My regular hair dresser kept shaving my sides and I didn’t like it. With gas going up so high I chose to cut back on hair care. My hairdresser had told me what dye and number to buy during Covid.
Local school and property tax bill due. Ugh. I was going to pay it today but I will wait until the end of the month.
Getting a replacement Otterbox case for my new iPad. Something not right with it. My iPad won’t stay in the stand. Never had that happen with any other Defender case.

I'm relieved with the health insurance decision that I made. Already dreading next year. I'll find a way to keep the same plan for as long as I possibly can. The rep that i spoke to at UHC said to expect premiums to go up 20% every year. When my premium starts getting close to 1K in a few years, I'll be bowing out. I'd be interested in your broker though Val, if she can assist me in AZ. By a complete fluke, I briefly spoke with a broker here locally that I really liked but she said she was 64 so there a chance that she won't be around for much longer. Need to whine for a second. Had a skin check a few weeks ago and she found something suspicous on my back that came back as pre-cancerous. Going back in a few weeks so that they can remove more flesh from my back. Boooo It's good they caught it, Bliss! I had skin cancer on my face - the first dermatologist I saw was this middle-aged individual with skin that had been leatherworked by the sun (nice advert, doc) who said I was one of those 'skin conscious people' in a chiding tone. The next call I got was from the office that the biopsy was cancerous and please make an appointment ASAP. I never saw the 'skin conscious' doc again, but instead someone else who was not only very good, but specialised in MOHS surgery - I have a 1 1/2" scar on my face from the removal but the doc did an excellent job and I have skin that heals well, so it's only visible in certain lights. I have enough acne scarring, anyway, that it's just another thing. Hopefully they won't have to remove too much and all will be well! I haven't had a recurrence. My friend was telling me about the MOHS surgery, I'd never heard about it before. I'll have to research and ask if that's what she'll be doing before she gets started. Unfortunately I did tanning beds more often than I care to admit as a young person so now I'm paying for it. My back is pretty severely peppered with moles. I've been to crumbl several times. Two were pretty good, one wasn't good at all. The good ones were blueberry cheese cake and then I think the other was a plain oatmeal cookie but it was warm and really hit the spot. I love the creations that they come up with though. Last time I got my hair cut was in October of last year and I color it myself. I love doing these things at home. Always happy with the results and it saves so much money and time. Need to cave and get a little cut off at some point in the near future though. Oh and Color Street nails, I'm in love!! Not sure I've really saved a lot money doing them myself because I've bought so many sets but the mixing and matching.. so much fun.

Wow, we sure got a lot of rain last night. Some areas did flood. And it is supposed to storm every day this week until Thursday. Much needed here.

Work day at home. Finally moved our spare refrigerator into the lower level of the house. We had it in the garage but the newer freezers do not stay cold if the refrigerator is in the cold. So now we don’t have to worry about food going bad in the winter.
Hubby bought a new safe so we had to take apart the dog door. We cleaned the patio door up and replaced the dog door weatherstripping. All back together now. He just has to sell his old safe.

blissfullymiserable - MOHS surgery is a very precise, staged type of surgery that takes as little of the surrounding skin as possible to get clear margins. It's usually done in visible spots (particularly the face) - mine took over 4 hours because the cancer had spread beneath the skin to such an extent, so the surgeon had to keep chipping away at it. If I hadn't had such oily skin it would have been harder to conceal the scar that resulted. So much for being "skin conscious".
I tried colouring my hair myself - it was just a mess. I have no talent for it and just detested doing it. I have black hair and day-glo white skin - that doesn't help. I go somewhere to get it done - it is spendy because the individual who does it is a colour specialist. OTOH, I'm wearing the hair on my head everywhere I go so it's definitely visible. They charge $50 for a haircut, and given that I just need the ends of my hair trimmed, I'm not paying that, so will go to super cuts or whatever the local place is and ask them to just trim the ends and even them up.
The DH went for one of his 100 milers up in the mountains this weekend and came back looking pretty wrecked - apparently most of that 100 miles had been over chip seal roads and he had been pounded mile after mile rumbling over that stuff. He's training for another century this upcoming weekend down in Albany, Oregon. It's a special ride that features the covered bridges in that area as well as the countryside - apparently that area is known for its beautiful covered bridges. His ride will take in five. My ride is just 40 miles but I'll still be able to ride through two or three of the bridges and enjoy seeing them. I spent this afternoon wrenching on my racing bike to get it up and running - I've been riding my heavy 3 speed for these rides, but this has some steep grades and I'm not that fit. A couple of test runs this week and I should be ready to go - I haven't ridden this bike to any extent for several years - not since I fell off that ladder and couldn't walk. We're taking a long weekend to visit Portland for a bit and then on down to Albany. Of COURSE we'll try to fit some thrifting in (not to mention pubbing).

(((Jes & Dawn))) tough times for sure- I went thru that with both my Mom & Dad :-(
I"m happy your mom is over the worst of her covid and you can have a nice visit Jes!
I took baby Ramona up to the hospital so they could have a nice visit- I sorta teared up seeing them all together again. It's been 12 days with no real end in sight yet. Baby Riley is back in pediatric ICU because her electrolytes were out of whack and some other issues. She's back on a big IV again for feeding which sucks cause they had to sedate her yet again for that procedure..
Hot here again-it's 99-ish degrees or something ridiculous like that. Me & Ramona are staying home the rest of the day where there's an AC.She's asleep now but not for long enough to do much.

Sorry to hear that Retro.
And we too, are having another heat spell. I spoke to one of the regular morning walkers I see and she has stopped for now like I have. I still get 11000 steps at work, all in a long stretch.

Prayers for Jes, Dawn and Riley. Dawn that was my answer for a long time, my heart is shattered into a million pieces.
I refuse to color my hair, it is naturally strawberry blonde and now has gray at the temples. I decided a long time ago I wasn't going to fight the aging process no cosmetic surgery and no hair color. It's a battle I won't win why wear myself out waging it.
Life continues to be great which is such a big surprise. We finally had to tell our kids we are dating, 2 out of 3 were fine with it, one is unsure how it will affect her so I think she is reserving judgment until she sees how it changes her life, lol. His parents are very excited because they have loved me for 30 years so this just makes it better in their eyes. My family isn't ready and I don't see any of them so there is no reason to even breach the subject yet.
Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Alli...good for you! After I kicked out my ex, when my girls were 13 and 16, they were not happy that I was dating. But the guys were all controlling jerks. And I will remain single forever.
So you are lucky to find a nice one to keep you company.
