When I bought this I thought it was a man's shirt and in looking at it now it's pretty long for a shirt, and plus the buttons don't go all the way down. Then I thought maybe it was some kind of nightshirt for men, but there are buttons at the cuffs so I don't think that would be a nightshirt. I was thinking it's probably 80s (made in Hong Kong) was this some kind of style then? It measures 36" from shoulder to hem in the back. I appreciate any help

I have had shirts like that in the past. One was by Wrangler with a collar like that. I think that it is just a shirt.

That collarless style was popular in the 80s/early 90s. My ex- used to wear that style all the time (he got his from J Peterman). The length of the shirt is a little disconcerting, but Armani was all about the LONG in the 80s (long sports coats, suit coats, etc.) IIRC.

Nehru! I remember those. Then I was reminded about the Dr. Ben Casey and Dr. Kildare white scrub shirts back in my teens that I HAD to buy! I was so stylin'!

Grandpa shirt (really more of a great-granddad shirt in 2022, lol) with a band collar. I'm not sure whether those originated in Victorian or Edwardian mens fashion but the collarless style was popular in the late 60s-early 70s in hippie wear, and then redone in the 80s. I have a couple of Banana Republic flannel shirts like yours. Maybe they didn't button all the way down because men wore their pants so high back then. And could the shirt be a mens X-long?

Well, it's not before 1981; like the sign says.

The size just says L so I'm guessing it's some kind of style.
