Well I was listing a set of vintage drinking glasses (thinning out a few of my vintage things) and I wanted to do calculated shipping and add a handling fee to cover the insurance. But I could not find anywhere to add a handling fee. I'm wondering if that's just not an option any more, or am I over looking something?

No handling fee anymore. Hasn't been allowed for quite some time.
Regarding insurance, if you read on the ebay boards, USPS has pretty much blown off any insurance claims for damaged items claiming insufficient packing.
If I was going to insure anything, I would just add the cost into the price of the item.

I don't often sell breakable items either. What about Shipcover? They paid a claim a couple of years ago on an item I sent that was broken in shipping.

I filed an insurance claim a few years back over a broken crystal glass. It was for $15 or so. No issues. USPS insurance.

You could always list the weight a few ounces more than the actual, and see if the extra postage cost to the buyer would cover handling (I'm guessing packing material costs?).

jesmelric and kritter I'm seeing the option for handling fee in the Shipping Options section of the sell form, right under handling time. You can use it only with calculated shipping, which makes sense because a handling fee can be easily included in a fixed shipping price. (Restocking fee was eliminated a few years ago, but I haven't heard anything about eliminating the handling fee.) I'm not using the new selling form.

Right under handling time it says International. And that's with flat or calculated shipping.

That's a good idea, thanks. I have packing materials that I have saved from packages I've received. I just wanted to add it to cover insurance since they are drinking glasses, just to be safe.

I wonder if it's a mistake that they left it out of the new selling form. I hope it's just a mistake.

It's still there. Delivery "Edit all Options" Set your parameters for calculated shipping In the same window tap "Domestic settings" and this comes up:

Don't mean to hijack, didn't want to start my own post. I've had a po box for probably 10 plus years. I pay every 6 months, the last time was in December. Checked my CC statement on line this morning and saw a $99.00 USPS charge and thought it was fraudulent so I called (never auto paid before, must have accidentally changed the setting the last time I logged in online). The rep said it was a reaccuring payment so then I thought of my PO box and checked. Sure enough. I don't remember how much I paid the last time but I know it wasn't $99. I'd been thinking about cancelling my box... this gave me the push I needed to do it. Luckily cancelling and getting a refund was still an option. I like having it for privacy reasons but refuse to pay $200 a year for it.

You guys I found the handling charge option!! I went to list another set of drinking glasses and got to messing around. I clicked on edit all options for shipping, then clicked on domestic and then more options and then there was the option to add the handling fee. It was a bit of work to get to it, but it is still there.

You can even create the same or different amount handling fee for international sales by clicking on international settings.

If you set up a business policy, you can add a handling charge. But if you use business policies, you have to use them for all your listings, so you have to set up each type of shipping method you use.

You don't have to set up business policies. You ABSOLUTELY CAN still do a handling fee, I do one on every single item!!!!
They've moved things around with the new screen & 'hidden' some stuff. I don't know where it is b/c I use listing software, but it absolutely is still there & they never got rid of it. Not sure where that came from. Perhaps whoever posted it was thinking of charging the buyer for insurance. That went away long ago, but just as a separate line item. You can still do that too, just have to roll it into your prices.
ETA: Should have read the whole thread LOL. But yeah, it's still there & you don't have to use Business Policies at all.

I agree somethings are "hidden" not sure if that's on purpose or not, but you have to go on a hunt to find it!
