I had a Sears home warranty which was useless. A recent furnace repairman that I had to pay for myself, suggested American Home Shield. So I bought a premium warranty for $52 a month.
My dryer, which is maybe 7 years old, has a broken start knob. Turns out that the instrument console has to be replaced and the cost is $840!!!! So Home Shield is giving me a new dryer! The dryer repair guy told me not to get a GE, and suggested Whirlpool or Maytag. I was able to shop online through Home Shield and picked out the cheapest Whirlpool which will only cost me $115. Of course, the GE's were totally free.
The dryer at Lowes costs $690 + tax + delivery + installation. But my only cost is $115.
Delivery is set for May 16. Yay!

Got my new Whirlpool dryer today! My daughter's BF hauled the old one to the curb last night. It was only 7 years old and was by Hotpoint, which was made by GE. What was weird was that the outside of the dryer plug was singed black! Fire hazard?
I looked out this morning at 6:15 and it was still there. 5 minutes later a scrapper picked it up and loaded it into his truck. I'll bet that the trashmen love the scrappers, since it is less for them to pick up.

I have some older GE appliances but a washer I bought like 4 years ago went out on me and I got it repaired and then a few months later the same part went out! The repair guy told me (I had it fixed the first repair, second one I replaced it) that GE sold out to China some years prior and anything after that is inferior quality.
I had a Whirlpool Fridge for years that I loved and when I replaced it (only to get matching appliances) I gave it to DS and DIL and it lasted years for them before they moved and as far as I know it's still going along. That being said a GE mini upright deep freezer I bought in 1998 and gave to a friend 8 or so years ago is still going!

We have a GE washer and dryer matching set that is 15 years old and they still look good. The drum belt broke on the dryer about 5-6 years ago and DS was able to fix that with a $20.00 part. Now what is happening is that the washer won't drain if it's set on the delicate cycle, we need to wash on the regular cycle or super-wash cycle. The only thing that I really like about the washer is that the water flows into the machine even when the cover is lifted up so I can use the running water to rinse out the detergent cup or use as a mini "sink" after applying bleach stick or needing to scrub a stain under running water. So many newer washing machines cut the water supply off when the cover is lifted.
Or worse, at a vacation rental we stayed at, the lid locked when the machine was filling/washing and if we wanted to throw something in that we missed, forget it. I think most new machines have that function?

I bought a Samsung when my GE crapped out, I needed a larger tub and good luck getting one at all in Sept of 2020 during the height of the pandemic, I had to take what I could get and pay a lot for it. It locks when it's filling/washing, but if you hit the pause button it stops so you can add something.

My washer which is a Kenmore (those appliances used to be great), has the feature that if you want to open the lid to check the water level, it starts all over again.
It is supposed to sense the level needed, but never seemed to have enough water. I never read the manual, but finally did about a year ago to find that if I use the "bulky" settings, that the water level is high enough.
I do know NOT to buy a Samsung fridge. My friend paid $3,000 for her fancy one and it breaks constantly.

The appliances that I got when we built this house in 1977 all lasted for over 20 years. Too bad they don't make them that well anymore.
I had a Kitchenaid dishwasher then, but sure can't afford one now. It was pricey back then-$600, which was the highest of all of them back then.
